I do think, however, that this is a getaround for YouTube. Now they can say "We pay our content producers" when actually, they're only going to pay those that get the most views, not everyone.
Done properly, this could have been amazing. Instead, it's just a cop out.
I suppose if YouTube WAS to open up the treasure chest to all users, they would end up paying some people to share copyrighted content etc (user-recorded TV episodes are quite popular on YouTube, even after the "reduced length restrictions"), and there begins a whole new realm of legal complications. YouTube would certainly be in strife if they were to go down that path. It's sad really.
So just in case advertisers are wondering, probably barbie dolls and glitter nail polish are the best bets for her kind of videos.
I suggest you need to get out more.
It wasn't a "trial period."
She should get credit for opening a door for "guest players" there, since other youtube performers could get the same gig later.
The author seems to have an axe to grind...
Note to Mike -
If your "talented out-of-work filmmaker" friends could use some money, perhaps they might consider applying their talent to making vids and posting them on YouTube. It might make their amazing talent visible to people who might want to fund a project.
Then they could be working, instead of sitting around making you frustrated.
Huh?
