Class!
JP
but tech'journalists' are most of the time google or apple fanboys. just check the google ad$ ;-)
if the search engine is good enough to ignore the outbound links why the publishers have to put no-follow on that.
this is just a small point. the list goes on.
I am waiting for a good search engine which is inteligient enough to differenicat a good content from the rest.
I dont know why all the search engines are forcing the publishers rather than improving their algorthm. Its time for microsoft to take the web search and make it publisher, and user friendly. rather than concentrating on speed and speed.
Google seems to always be a step ahead. We've had google, and it's advanced search results for like a decade... MS is only just now getting this? lol
Bing is fairly weak but doing very well with their marketing push.

Fingers crossed!
It seems to be about the same, but with an older blog post.
P.S. Stop forcing to subscribe to your stupid comments, it's funny that script remember my name and email but not subscription and web site address option,
Google works on these issues on a daily basis, it's not a big deal imo. We see algo changes all the time, this will be just one of the many to come. Results are pretty similar to current from my end and can't deny that Google has been adding new dimensions to search already.
That doesn't seem faster at all :) Also why did you cut off that part of the screens?
This was very helpful for legal related searches
With the "new" google, we're buried on the 16th page of results, and it's one of our subdivisions (our "Veterinary Division" subfolder at "/vet").
I haven't done much SEO other than trying to put as many relevant keywords on the page as well as in the title (i.e.: "endoscopy") and it has worked for us so far. What will be the SEO for this new google search? What will get our main page back up to page 1 or 2 of the search results again?
People who switched to Bing most likely switched because it looked different and took a unique approach to search. If you searched for "Hypoglicemia" it'll give you a "Bing Article" about it. If you search for plane tickets, it can help you decide when and where to buy. The layout is different and some people may prefer it.
Now whether any of that is useful is of course up to the individual. However, if Bing really has started to steal market share from Google then clearly some people do prefer these features over Google's.
So if Google wants to win these people back...they can't simply upgrade the backend to make results better. Yes, at the end of the day results are what matter. But to regular Joe who switched to Bing in July 2009, once the "entirely new Google" comes out in, say, February 2010....he'll be expecting it to do what Bing does and more. And honestly, I think in order to do what Bing does (and more), Google would need a UI change.
Now of course I realize that a UI change is dangerous and I obviously know why they wouldn't want to do it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right? Well, yes. If I was in charge of google I would probably keep my current UI as to not scare off most users. Afterall, not that many people have moved on to Bing. So losing them is not as bad as scaring off the rest of the users.
With that said, if Bing does keep getting more and more users, then it does become increasingly more important to make some sort of big visual change. Something everyone will notice, not just nerds.
So in conclusion: the changes are welcome and good, but at the moment they will not bring back any "converted" users who started using Bing.
Looks to me like Googles play is more along the lines of real time search.
JP
Bing is FUCKED.
That's the only improvement I see, actually...
Hell, hopefully we get some better sorted, hyper-relevant, real-time, semi-semantic web results from Google out of this which will force Bing to keep pushing their innovation, etc, etc.
Yaho0! + Bing = :(
Have a nice day!
- c.a.t.
when looking for a product or a business.
A REVOLUTION is coming...
-The FOURTH generation of search.
-The first 3D search engine.
-The only worldwide product catalog and business directory.
-Offering search results with 100% relevancy.
-No garbage. No unrelated content. No banner ads.
Life is too short to waste time digging through pointless search results.
The internet shakeup is approaching... can you feel it?
BE READY

This new google search is good though!
The other issue I have is outdated links -that announce a meeting or a seminar for instance which is 3 years old....I hope they clean up that kind of junk stuff and keep the content that writers take time to write which is all original and with good information.
