Mashable - The Social Media Guide: What Grade Do YOU Give Obama?

  • Zack · 4 months ago
I'm disappointed in this blog post, Pete. This isn't news. That's like posting an entire article about TMZ.com questioning who's the worst dressed celeb of the month.
  • Digital Jedi · 4 months ago
Since this is a blog about Social Media news and this is about something new in Social Media, then an entire article about TMZ.com using the system would be news, too.

    I give him a D+.

Actually, Zach, I think it's a good idea. there's little opportunity for the tech challenged to figure out how to be heard/seen/ Though I'm not a big fan of polls, I know many who would participate.

And it's a bit more serious than the TMZ celebrity thing. What people think about how he's doing matters a bit more to some of us than who's wearing what/or not. don't you think.
  • Zack · 4 months ago
Well yes in theory it'd be great to gauge how everyone thinks he's doing, but these kinds polls don't really reflect anything. Plus we're in the middle of a health care battle thats costing him tons of political capital by the day-- but it's a fight he promised to wage for Americans before he got elected. I'd expect him to get very low grades now, and high grades if he actually gets anything passed and the economy continues to improve. Running the poll now would be like a teacher grading my essay before I'm halfway done writing the first paragraph. Sure the paper might be terrible, but you have no way of knowing until I get at least a little further down the page.

Politics aside, I also think that CNN has done hundreds of stories that involved iReporters, online polls, and other web-based communications. What makes this one any different?

    I'm with Joseph. D+
  • Stajo · 4 months ago
That is seems so easy to grade Obama. Political questions go far beyond choosing an option from a select box. You can say much more on videos though.

    I give him an F

    Benefit of the doubt...D-

A- because he's one of the few in Washington trying to DO something instead of saying no to everything.
  • Robert Basil · 4 months ago
And spending trillions more than we have to get it done. Washington as usual....

I do Not want socialism. We are too socialistic now and this jerk come into office and want the USA to be like Europe. If I want European government I would move to Europe. I would give Mr. Obama a "0". He will go down in history as our worse President and when Jimmy Carter is better you are crap.
  • CountRob · 4 months ago
I think he deserves a D+, for effort, because he's a VERY good actor/puppet for the New World Order banking cartel.

He's just an actor, a banker puppet, and a pretty good one.
  • Scott r. · 4 months ago
Why do they pretend to want to know what America thinks? Any negative feedback will be thrown out. That's what's happened all along with the new socialist regime. It really scary. There's been a political coup and no one realizes it yet.

All good and fine, but if internet voting determined winners and losers, Ron Paul would be President now!

I love how everyone is using these comments to grade Obama. Use the facebook app, people! That's what it's for!
  • Chad Estes · 4 months ago
I'm surprised there are so many people who have commented on why gathering a vote from Facebook users is a bad thing. It taps into our natural judgmental nature (which is obviously on display in these comments) but gives users a very simple way to interact.

There will be a lot more people giving him a simple grade than taking the time to type out a well though through response that nobody is going to read all the way through anyway.

I know hes trying but he doesn't know how much damages he is doing.

Grade: C- at the very best. More like a D.

Should not have bailed out any company, needs to put the smack down on Congress/House for health care overhaul (meaning - make them get their sh*t together and fix the system w/ out pharmaceutical/insurance lobby being involved), has not stopped torturing people or holding people indefinitely, has not prosecuted Bush/Cheney for war crimes (as what they did was against the Geneva Convention), has not stopped warrant-less wiretapping... the list could go on.

The crazy thing is I'm a Democrat. I voted for him. I want to like what he's doing. But as times goes on it looks more and more like he's just staying the course and not fixing the fundamental problems we have right now as a nation. Problems that he said he was going to fix when he was trying to get elected...

Grade...well, depends on if he can get the FDA to back off of my products...but overall....I'd give him a B. I don't agree with everything that has been passed, but at least things are getting done. And fast!

I support the President. I believe he is doing the best he can, with the people he has to work with. Remember he is (1) man with not much HELP from ALL the rest of democrats and republicans in the white house. EXCELLENT JOB!
  • Joan Fox · 4 months ago
I give Obama an A+.Our president and the Congress are trying to create a "more perfect union". We deserve public health care, peace and prosperity. Big business has irreparably damaged our quality of life and our reputation abroad. They basically bought the Republican party and they have left us with a trail of lies, hopelessness and desperation. Is this what America is supposed to be? I pray that the truth comes out. I support the president and the democratic congress.

I believe you may be a hippie, and very dumb. The credit crisis is what experts believe is the culprit for the recent recession. If you want to blame something, blame big banks and the U.S. Reserve. Obama may have complicated things by passing his recent stimulus bill, creating super- inflation.
  • Josh S. · 4 months ago
2nd greatest mistake American voters have made in the last decade. First being former president G.W. Bush.
  • Rich M · 4 months ago
It's time to quit BS the American people. Quit cancelling Town Hall meetings or loading them up with supports that are scripted. Open the discussion and suggestion by Republicans and have the American people vote on that THEY think is best for them.

You can't force socialism on hard working Americans ... and it's proven not to work in other countries as well.

(let's all work on something with free choice and benifits everyone; let's listen the to other side and do what's best for our country).
