Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Web Development Toolbox: 120+ New Tools for Web Development

  • Heather K · 1 year ago
Nice list - it will take me quite a while to explore all of these tools to see if and how they can help me out. One thing - I definitely would have included Dojo, the javascript toolkit. JQuery is nice, but Dojo is incredible.

Well that list will take some time to go through. I'm surprised at how many of those sites I've never heard of before.

Thanks so much, great definitions as well. I have been looking for some of these for a while.

Just when you think you know it all, you find out you know nothing. Veteran Web wanderer that I am, many of these are new. So much to explore, and an extra hour this weekend to spend doing it. Thanks for all the great finds.

thanks great compilation, i need to start to check and bookmark for later.

Tons of great tools and apps there! I'm hoping you can add psd2css Online - converts Photoshop web designs directly into CSS/XHTML with dozens of extra features. Huge time saver.
  • Netbook Computer · 1 year ago
Holy smokes! It will take me a week to go through all those sites. This is a wonderful list. Thank you for your contribution. It's helpful to put everything in one place.

    Wow..it's great information.
    thanks

Interesting list. I can say with conviction that one of your items, Pringo, should not be up there. Pringo is terrible software - encrypted - and buggy.

My company bought a license to use Pringo on their main site and I'm one of many programmers that have had the pleasure of working with the Pringo system - no one in their right mind should use Pringo!!!!!!!!!

Anywho - on a more positive note; good list :-)

I have to disagree with you on this one. I have been using their most recent version and I dont think anyone can come close to Pringo. Before we purchased they even gave us a access to their sandbox so we could check out the software for ourselves. I can say it might not be for small companies but larger companies Pringo is the best out there. Just my thoughts though

    Woah! Outstanding compilation. Thanks!

Got one that maybe interesting.... not a traditional "development tool", but it helps comunicate developers, and non-developers and that's part of the job :)

    Really great list of tools!
This one could extend the list of Ajax & JavaScript resources and tools:
DHTMLX (dhtmlx.com) is a JavaScript library of UI components which support drag-n-drop, in-line editing, clipboard operations, built-in client-to-server communications, XML/CSV/JSON data formats. GPL/commercial.

Magiclogix.com should be added to your list, we develop similar applications.
  • steve · 1 year ago
Thanks for this great list! I'd also like to suggest one more tool that could be added to the Ajax, Java & Javascript heading. The tool is called m-Power (http://www.mrc-productivity.com/products/) and it generates Java web applications. It's designed for enterprise use, but would still be a good addition to this great list you've put together.

That is an outstanding collection of tools!
  • Netbook Computer · 10 months ago
Cameron, perhaps you publish an annual list with periodic updates. There are so many new things to look at and sort through to get to the useful gems. 2009 will bring many new tools to add to the collection, and some of the outdated web tools can be eliminated.

It is such a comprehensive and eye opener list that actually "made my day", but it is really amazing that you have listed such good websites that you cannot find anywhere else. Great job
