Shelly, uStream has had exactly the same content copyright issues. But they benefit from the better quality broadcasts and back-end technology!

I like the idea of advertising on Ustream but if I think I would want more control over the ads being displayed. Obviously Google is the bomb, but I think "Ads by Google" tend to be trash, and I find it hard to believe that people actually click on them (or pay for them). Automation can help to facilitate connecting Ustreamers with relevant advertisers, but I think some human control is needed from a quality standpoint. I think that video or image ads could work better too. But regardless of the format, I think that having one exclusive show sponsor would be better than selling bunches of meaningless ads. Exclusive channel sponsorship would be an ideal option and something that would be worth paying for (because the advertisers could reach a more targeted market).

I suspect they will eventually sell big branded sponsorships to their partners.

I listen to a broadcast on Ustream and the ads never are of interest to me. They need to be more aware of who the audience is because I always close them once they pop up.
