What would the motivation for this be though? Also consider that many of the smaller SMEs with no tech knowledge bought their PC literally "out of the box" and formating and installing WIndows 7 would be way above their heads. True they could get a tech guy in for the day but would it be worth the hassle !

I am totally sick of M$ and ready to give the Google OS a try. Actually, I have not bought a new computer since Vista came out because M$ does not allow a choice on they have decided to push out a new OS.

Why anyone would trust their data with anything from M$ that hasn't yet been "service packed" is beyond me. I'll stick with XP Pro SP2 until WIndows 7 SP1 comes out. Windows 7 may appear solid but that's just because all the problems haven't been found yet.

on june 1 2009 ,i put in order to officemax in puerto rico for [2] window 7 premium order
number 562239443.to charge my credit card total 106.98 with tax.on july 16 recieved email
from them that order is cancelled,the reason they cant deliver this item on sale to puerto
rico.what happen microsoft why were we left out.

And so they should, it's a great OS, i've been using it since the beta and even that rock completely stable. Sure it's Vista fixed really, but who cares!

I personally think that the pre-order phase is a disaster in Germany. It seems to be more stable in the UK though. Every online and offline store seems to be sold out already in Germany.

It just received a lot of bad press which was mostly due to driver vendors not making compatible drivers.

Starting from SP1, Vista is awesome, not because of bugs, but at that time all drivers were finished and polished, etc

I reluctantly tried the Windows 7 RC on my computer hoping for the best, concerned with getting vista'd again, but I can say that 1) its incredibly solid 2) Microsoft UI designers have been working on macs and 3) I'll be upgrading with no qualms. It looks like MS has actually gotten it right... as they do with every 3rd OS they release.

Hanan - Yes, that bad. Especially in the enterprise vs XP.
Donagh - good question, I used to manage 1500+ distributed users in a PC based environment and given a little time to mature I would be very eager to get my folks onto it.
MIchael- I would imagine it would go right over the top of your existing install. The file structure is a little different than in xp, but apart from that it should work fine. MS were covering their RC asses (and yours) in the install instructions for the release candidate, as by all rights, it was not completely ready for prime time

People are signing up in droves because they can't wait to stop using Vista! hehe.

Actually, I have Vista and the only problems I've had with it are installing drivers. But, I did get a chance to use Windows 7 beta and I really liked its simple layout.

From what I have seen of Windows 7, I will be surprised if anyone is tempted by any other OS. May even have the odd Mac user thinking of getting a PC??? (maybe). As for Google Chrome OS, why on earth is it even mentioned, after all it is Linux with a Chrome browser, whats exciting about that??

I wonder how businesses are going to react to Windows 7. It's fair to say that a lot of businesses were, and still are, quite happy to stick with XP and never even considered upgrading to VIsta, so is it going to be more of the same!? Your larger coroporate organisations might jump on board but what about the huge amount of SME businesses out there! They'll be slow to engage I predict

was wondering with windows 7 free trial version you had to back up and save everything on you sytem (wich is why I declined to instal ) If you buy the new version will it just upgrade and install or am I going to lose everything I have on my PC ?
