What am I missing? I downloaded UberTwitter today and I still get the ads. And yes, they are annoying. I actually don't mind the ads in FB, but they are distracting in UberTwitter. Seems like a PR release to just take the focus off of their ads even though they are still there. I would actually pay the $5 not to see them. Can anyone tell me if they are actually removed? Back to TwitterBerry for me until I can get rid of them or they can do them more tastefully.

What a bunch of whiners. There's ads everywhere including mashable....if the hardworking developers need to monetize their free application by placing an advertisement...i say it's okay by me. If they have a paid version for $5 bucks...I'll pay for that too!
But lets face it...not everybody wants to pay $5 dollars. Many people would rather look for some kind of hacked version of it than to pay $5 dollars.

I agree with you. That's why I said "not only." I'm a men and am offended by the objectification of women in advertising and I don't to look at that shit when I look at Twitter.

I'm pretty sure porn isn't only offensive to women, and I doubt all women are offended by porn.

And I doubt Ubertwitter would allow porn adds as in general you'd hear a lot of complaints regardless. As you said, no one wants someone catching that from over their shoulder.

I hate ads and if I can find a better app without ads, I'll gladly swap. But it's kind of too be expected. We live in a profit-driven society and businesses don't do anything unless they can make some cash out of it.

The thing that annoys me is that heaps of the ads are for porn. Not only is it offensive to women, I'm using UberTwitter at work and don't want my boss looking casually over my shoulder and seeing a half-naked woman on my screen.

I would gladly pay for an application if it meant I didn't have to put up with the ads. They said 'ads would disappear' with the premium version which I was lead to believe was available right now.... This is just silly and their icon looks like sh*t. Back to twitterberry for me.

The ads aren't a big deal. There's a single ad at the top of the list that scrolls off the screen, so it's relatively non-obtrusive. I think it's a small price to pay.

Get over it people. There's nothing wrong with putting ads on a free version of a product. If you don't like them then buy.

I had to download the new version since i had to replace my BB, the ads suck. I would def be willing to pay a fee to not see them.

Me too.

And I didn't like the fact that after installing the application it requests permissions to access EVERYTHING on my Blackberry... including mail access, phone access, security access... I mean what the heck, an application should request changes ONLY to the permissions it will actually use.

I asked @ubertwitter about the permissions which are really needed for the application to accomplish its tasks, but funny... no response...

FWIW Viigo has always had ads at the top of the interface. I've not seen the new Ubertwitter interface so I don't know how intrusive this is in UberTwitter.

All BB twitter apps suck, I won't even go into what I think of the BB Facebook app since as it would be NSFW. UberTwitter is just the best of the bad UberTwitter's GPS is a joke and I hate that it uploads pictures to some random site. Alas, it's the only one that does not crash my stupid BB. I paid for Tweetie on my iPhone (before I lost it) but I am not willing to pay for UberTwitter. Its not good enough to pay for.

Seriously, I don't even own a BB (girlfriend does and uses UberTwitter)... but people complain about this when it happens to popular iPhone apps. Get over it.

If you took the time to educate yourself about their latest update, you would see they did mention the ads in this new version AND that there is a paid version (Under $5) coming in a few weeks. Sure, it would have been better to launch the paid version at the same time as ads, but they have to test to make sure the ads display correctly and don't cause any issues.

Get off their asses about it, this is a normal business practice! Support indie developers and purchase the paid version when it launches. From the small amount of time I have screwed around with UberTwitter, it will be worth every penny!
