Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Twubs: Wikipedia-Style Hubs for Twitter Hashtags

  • Dawn Carter · 7 months ago
I used Twubs to follow the conversations at a recent conference Catalyst West, in Irvine CA.

Two reasons I preferred it over a plain Twitter Search (like in Tweetdeck):

    1) If I am unsure of the "official" hashtag, it lists out the similar ones. I had been following the #catwest hashtag and found that there were folks tweeting to #catalyst and #catalystwest. I was able to dip into the tweets from both.

    2) LOVE the thumbnail pics fed into one place. Didn't have to bounce around from different tweets with shortened URLs... it was all on one screen.

Twubs delivered on it's promise to make "hashtags useful."

Twubs is a great idea. Sorely needed. I wonder where they are going with this and what new features will be rolled out to make it even more useful?

This is a great site! The guys behind twubs.com created our site www.fanfuego.com. The company is called 360Hubs and they are awesome! We're proud of you guys!

thank you for the nice words. we are excited to see Twubs get off the ground.

we agree and look forward to the continued feedback. our goal is to have the twubs vision be guided by the users. so we need the feedback. we have some big visions for Twubs. in the coming weeks you will see us address such things as a twub administrator so that we can cut down on abuse; we will also be adding mobile apps and a lot of other fun things that I cannot quite share yet.

In the words of Guy Kawasaky, launch and enhance.

Thanks for the comment addressing my concern. Other than that, I was pretty impressed with Twubs. Some of that functionality is definitely useful for avid followers of hashtags.

As administrator of several #Twubs (thanks to @tferraro), I can attest to the functionality, but it will take commitment and competence to fulfill this function well. I will try to do my best!

I can't wait for the mobile apps, especially an iPhone/iPod touch version!

This looks like a great idea for background info that can't be explained in 140 characters. I like that it can be a tweetchat-like tool, too. But I can see it becoming chaotic. Can you imagine a #followfriday twub?!

Twubs is nice. I'm going to add it to Twitdom.

There are other apps that do similar things. Have a look at http://twitdom.com/tag/hashtag/
