People definitely want more up to date information in their traditional search results. Only worry is that it's got to be relevant results, and that's going to be the biggest process challenge. I wouldn’t want to write the algorithms! However, it will keep SEO companies busy for a while!

We've launched a twitter live feed option in our free business advertising service. It's early days but we’ve found a strong demand from businesses to push their tweeks outside of Twitter. Here's an article on it http://bit.ly/1Hs1pp

Really can't wait to see what happens with this Google / Twitter deal - will be watching in anticipation...

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

When I search "Up" on Google, it *might* be a tiny bit useful to see what people are saying about the movie. But when I search "deriving universally accelerated motion", I'm not looking for tweets. I'm looking for results

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

This will never happen.

Google won't pay to get the data. If they would, other websites (eg newspapers) would follow and ask money from google as well...

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

I think Twitter is making a smart move keeping the business close and working through partnerships. Fact is, they have a great tool that neither of the big search giants thought of first - so why not hold on to the business and build rev sharing partnerships deals for data.

They shouldn't just limit these deals to the big search giants though.

Sites like the new http://www.Infospace.com, have been pioneers in integrating Twitter results into search.

If Twitter opens up it's data doors, I hope they spread the experience across other key search portals to keep their portfolio of partners widespread and independent of relying on top tier engines to survive.

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

I would agree with that statement. But the bigger they become the more they are worth and you know any one of the other big gun companies would snatch them up in a heart beat.

To me this all building up the value proposition and could lead to one of the largest buyouts / mergers on the net....who knows.

Then you have great search engines like TWUUGLE (Powered by Google) coming out that provides the best of both worlds....targeted Twitter searches that yield google style search results..and often times finds more on Twitter than it's own search feature.

It is definitely interesting to see everything unfold in this new Social Social Society!

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

I think twitter is over populated.
I use GoogleSocialNetwork.com

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

i like this idea ~ seems like twitter wants to spread more in ecosystem even with #appwednesday ...gr8 news

Re: Twitter’s New Rumored Business: Improving Google and Microsoft’s Search Engines

The people at twitter are starting to use their business brains since they have a large statement to fullfill of 1 billion dollar worth. Microsoft might pay just to get their hands on data, but Google will demand a form of analysis to come up with a number for that kindof service. Maybe an ad deal, not unlike what happened with AP.
