    I actually enjoy most of these ideas. The check in part form a dev point of view could actually be hard to implement but it could be feseable.

    I like those ideas.
    On suggestion 5, Nearyoo is already offering a way to check-in through a simple tweet : just use a "location tag", like "I'm going to the >Lion Coffee<".
    Doesn't require a dedicated app, nor a GPS-enabled phone.

    #1 appears to have a fatal flaw to me: the places would change very predictably over the course of the day.

    I recently just implemented idea #5 (Tweet as check-ins). It lives at www.isitbangus.com . I am working on making the instructions a bit clearer, and hope to open up an API soon. Let me know what you guys think.
