Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Twitter Gets an Unofficial App Store [INVITES]

  • Jason Drohn · 2 months ago
A Twitter App store is awesome.. There are sooo many third party integrations out there that it will be awesome to check out reviews to see if the services are any good!
  • Nadia · 2 months ago
Very cool! It's a great way to keep up with new apps and see what people think about them!
  • Kamamiya · 2 months ago
    there's a twitter app overflow.

update: got their email and tried to login and says i'm not registered for beta.

update: finally got my invitation. live~
  • mrhe25 · 2 months ago
This looks like a great service. Checking it out now
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
Great idea, but after it approves the email and i try to login with oauth it says i'm not registered for the beta.
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
Hi tyre - sorry for the troubles. Psyched to see that the login worked eventually and THANK you both for taking time to try it and taking time to comment. Warmly, Laura @pistachio
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
    Thanks for the followup.
  • Staffphoto Associados · 2 months ago
I´ve used the code. Hope the email with the auth, come soon!
  • mrhe25 · 2 months ago
Hm. Followed link, filled out info, and received email thanking me for requesting an invite but I didn't get an actual invite - it won't let me sign in.
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
I think something is wrong with it...
[edit] I'm just stupid. I was thinking the email was the invite.[/edit]
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
You're not stupid - clearly getting the 2 emails confused people! :-)
  • Richard Allan · 2 months ago
this will be a great asset!
  • Fatemeh Khatibloo · 2 months ago
Absolutely brilliant, and long overdue. Looking forward to seeing the whole breadth of available apps in one place.
  • Fara7 · 2 months ago
This looks good. Currently waiting until I can sign in wiht oauth. There is a large number of apps to choose from and this seems to be really helpful in deciding.
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
Wow... everyone above.. just THANK YOU so much for the kind words. Sincerely. I hope we can remain useful to you! Warmly, Laura
  • Tech Nerd · 2 months ago

  • Tech Nerd · 2 months ago
    i just got mine!
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
I bet they are getting swamped now since this article.
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
I'm jealous. Still haven't gotten mine and I have to go soon.
  • LeRoy · 2 months ago
It is too bad twitter didn't capitalize on this. Hopefully this will help regulate apps a little better.
  • robblewis · 2 months ago
just signed up for the beta. Looking forward to checking it out.
  • Andy Feliciotti · 2 months ago
I think I was to late on the invites darn!
  • Mauricio | BBRocks.com · 2 months ago
Very interesting concept. Excited to see it in action.
  • fortunalee · 2 months ago
So much for their request for an embargo until the 24th. Sheesh.
  • Christina Warren · 2 months ago
Actually, our embargo said the 23rd...
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
We screwed up somehow. I think it was the "welcome to the alpha" emails we were sending in the last few days. There was a typo if those said the 24th, as yes, the embargo we reqested was for the 23rd. I really apologize for that @fortunalee, cuz it sucks if you respect a request like that and get left behind as a result. Again, sorry for that, and THANK YOU for your interest in the project.

    Warmly, Laura

I've never needed an invite code to request and invite before.
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
It was the best way we could think of to expedite invite approvals for Mashable's loyal readers. Those 140 disappeared pretty fast. Extraordinarily fast. (thanks all!) Even though they zapped away we will work hard to get as many readers who used the code in in the coming days and weeks. REALLY appreciate everyone's patience in the meanwhile, and incredibly grateful for the interest and energy around this. Warmly,
    Laura

Great idea @pistachio. Just signed up and waiting for my official email -- looking forward to reading reviews and sharing on all the apps that are out there. Excuse me, while I look at some Twitter Apps while waiting for my invite....
  • roguedeals · 2 months ago
This is definitely overdue. Way too many apps for me, someone who doesn't have a lot of extra time on his hands to weed through the junk. Hope I can find some new tools
  • BlastOff Network · 2 months ago

This is a good new for all the Twitter developers! Great, great stuff!
  • Tanisa Samuel · 2 months ago
Good idea but they're not out of beta yet - so why advertise?
  • barringtonarch · 2 months ago
this is great. but how long until Twitter launches an official one?
  • Ben Lang · 2 months ago
Great idea! It wont work though for me..
  • Cittadelmonte · 2 months ago
awesome idea! now i can review app and share with my friends
  • Geoff Peterson · 2 months ago
It seems like everyday Twitter misses the boat on a new way to make "revenue" this one included. I'm very interested to see the business accounts and analytics offerings that are planned for later this year. I understand they won't do advertisements this year, but left it on the table for '10.
  • Mark Cameron · 2 months ago
Brilliant! I was hoping someone would do this.
  • webcam · 2 months ago
I am thinking this is gonna happen sometimes as i am true at that time.
  • ClayEdwards · 2 months ago
Dammit! Why didn't I think of this! :-) Can't wait to check it out myself.
  • oneforty · 2 months ago
Again, thanks to everyone above who took the time to comment and we hope to get you all in soon!
  • Σχολή Χορού · 2 months ago
That's a brilliant move and should be done long ago, The only sad part is that there is no support for Greek mobile numbers :-( so we cant use many of the apps.
  • Chris Nixon · 2 months ago
An app store that only shows apps from one social network sounds pretty boring. The content is not that changeable. Maybe worth a visit every six months or so.
  • Michael Roach · 2 months ago
About time. Good that they allow ratings and reviews too. With everything in one place, it'll be so much easier than seeking out information all over the place.
  • Lweis Lee · 2 months ago
Good initiative. Difficult to find the best among many third-party integration. Now with this new venture its easy to find apps and specially the reviews helps a lot.
