Twitter is not a serious company. If it were, they would use the users' email addresses that they have in order to send users a note saying what was going on (to the best of their ability). This is easy, and obvious. The only reason they do not is because user experience is not and never has been a priority for their leadership. Twitter is operated like a celebrity-owned restaurant.

You can use Facebook? FB is very spotty right now. Won't post comments. Some routing issues apparently. BGP routes for Twitter in place but filters seem to be preventing access. Pings and tracerts indicate a DDoS.

I've been having internet issues all day, notibly with Facebook. It's just melted on me. First I couldn't even open the page with my server saying I wasn't connected to the internet when I was actually on other websites and when I did manage to get to the home page, I had trouble signing in. Once I did get it I couldn't do a thing.

the site is back up for me but the twitter gadget on my igoogle page isnt yet :( now i can only see one account... (using both i found i could log into both at the same time... and i cant use tweetdeck at work...)
edit: scratch that... twittergadget now works! yay! i can go back to procrastinating work!

CBC fans of a certain vintage will understand when I say "...when I regained consciousness..."
That was how stunned I felt when it slowly dawned on me that it wasn't me, my browser or my ISP. Could it possibly be, I thought?
I chuckled at the thought of so many people world-wide having anxiety attacks over Twitter's absence in their lives. And then I moved on to my long overdue newsletter and blathered away about how wonderful my Twitter life is! Ah, the power of denial.
What's a true bummer about it all is that there were a ton of great tweets in my Tweetdeck profile that are now gone. I'll have to go onto the main Twitter site and see if they are there. Didn't get to follow a lot of great looking links.

DoS and DDoS (Denial of Servicel and Distributed Denial of Service attacks had been around for 10 years. Twitter and Facebook should have setup proper security solutions to prevent this from happening. The technology is there.

Dear Pete, I woke up this morning Thursday 13/08/2009 to find that my twitter account has been "suspended". I emailed twitter twice today which led me nowhere. I am not a spammer, my only mistake was I joined a get more followers service & I gave them my twitter password. I am sad as my friends on Twitter must think that (Golden_Choice) is a spammer. I woke up this morning Thursday 13/08/2009 to find that my twitter account has been "suspended". I emailed twitter twice today which led me nowhere.
