And the "join the conversation" box should be more prevalent as its too easy to confuse the page with a search engine. Even after you search for something, there is little to say what to do with that list of results. Perhaps each tweet should have a "reply to this Tweet - Join or login now" or something else to explain it. You get the standard "this person is on twitter" box if you click on one of the links in a tweet, but does this make twitter any less confusing for a newbie?
Just not sure they have done enough to help initiate new visitors to what Twitter is or why they should use it. I would like to see something about building friends/family lists to keep in touch, interactivity of conversations and explanation of replies/direct messages, etc. Perhaps on a separate page, but I do think they need SOMETHING more than making twitter look like a search engine.
The old Twitter API did not have these bugs.
Twitter seems more concerned with its shiny new image and less concerned about making an API that actually works.
Also, yeah, I'd like to see this new look available to people who are actually logged in. ;)
We can DO that? :o
The search really can define what it truly is, and beneath its simpleness it's a very powerful website and web application. Simply, it's people talking about topics or whatever, their opinions and such or just being down right silly. Some new users might not figure this out without signing up though, which is something I'm afraid of for Twitter. Yes they're big now, but you should never think everyone in the world know what Twitter is.
In fact just today my friend asked me "what twitter exactly anyways?" It wasn't too hard to explain, but I said it's pretty much Facebook's status feature and nothing else. Yea it's more than that, but the point of it is that.
I would've liked a better homepage, something that took use of the screen space at least height wise, but you can't expect much from them I guess. Twitter servers are slow as hell though! Took 5 minutes to load their new homepage, and it didn't even load the CSS the first time.
it is clear that the lead "what are you doing right now" was out of date...and i think kept a lot of potential users out of it, including me until recently.
i think most of twitters value is in its search tool but it seems that having it without the need of login in will not help to increase its user base...
anyways, there would always be passive and active users, so at the end i think the move is positive in the sense that it will help understand no-users what is twitter about and what is happening around it...
finally, i hope people stop using twitter to say they are going to sleep...etc, it's annoying!
excuse my english!

Only problem I can see is what I saw happening just now- people clicking on (TrayCyrus live > http://ustre.am/4jv1) only @tracecyrus isn't streaming- LOL- just a black screen.
Just noticed the handy search tip box- cool.
Does anyone know- Has Twitter always had this color scheme? Totally opposite of current color trends; therefore fresh, recognizable and hip!
As far as functionality goes, it doesn't parse keywords out of bio's to include in search results, so that's something to be desired. (just tested it with words from my bio, and with a unique keyword added to my bio..)
Time will tell insofar as weather or not they've noticed the trending metrics aren't relevant to their established userbase. I don't think most early adopters like myself are interested in goodnight, m&m's, and the like.
Lets see how this unfolds and evolves.
I wish them the best!

Should be "talking" about or better yet "tweeting" about, comprehend?
