PeopleBrowsr is extremely powerful and web-based. No need to synch or download. Just login. (desktop version is available I believe) I'm still trying to figure out which I will settle on.. but, PeopleBrowsr is making a lot of sense to me. One feature I like is the ability to post directly to any one of a long list of integrated services...including Ping.fm. Also supports groups, multiple accounts, unlimited columns, etc. Why this dog is not in the hunt is beyond me.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

Wait for PeopleBrowsr to enter the competition with a phone app, and this will get very interesting!

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

wow ..looks great ..Thanks for your post Jennifer

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

Nambu updated recently and I have to say I prefer it to either of these aps. It feels more Mac and doesn't use up so much juice in terms of systems performance.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

While I think Tweetdeck has an edge when it comes to appearances, it does take up a lot of space when running and will still crash my computer if I try to open my usual programs. Seesmic is my twitter desktop of choice only because it's faster, smaller, and doesn't continually throw Firefox into a state of frozen terror. If Tweetdeck could somehow lower the amount of memory it uses when running, I would switch back. But somehow I don't see that happening with the amount of additions it's been making.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

It won't be easy to crown either one of them, even through voting it wouldn't be entirely fair though. Unless the competition is based on the efficiency of each performance in categories... but is it necessary? Good job on both applications for making up till this far. I'm really impressed with their respective improvements. Certainly, either one would be a fantastic choice for power users.

@wchingya
social media/blogging

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

its destroyTwitter or dT(w) or destroyTwitter.com it may not have all the cool guy features yet because it doesn't have the Million $$ funding behind it either. I've tested Tweetdeck on a couple of my iPhones and it rocks, and those who follow me know that Tweetdeck is my tool of choice on non-mobile devices; I use Twikini 0.26 on my Windows Mobile (yeah, 6.5 beta) devices...

Again, it boils down to: which one works for you ?

That said, I think that TD supporting cross-platform sync is very hot.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

My preferred app is Seesmic Desktop but I think that we all win from both Seesmic and TweetDeck working hard and fast to improve on apps that many of us would now regard as indispensable.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

I've wanted the sync ability since I started using TweetDeck. I downloaded and installed the iPhone app tonight. Created my sync account on my iPod Touch using a 6-character password. All worked great. Then I downloaded and upgraded to v0.26 on my desktop. I went into the settings to have it use the same sync account, but it requires a password that is at least 7 characters. Not good. So I've requested a password reset e-mail on both the iPod Touch and desktop. I've been waiting 40 minutes and no such e-mail; even after I re-requested it 3 more times. It seems that their password reset e-mail feature is not yet working. I can't change my password on my iPod Touch as there is no such feature. I can't change my password on my desktop as I can't login. So I'm stuck in limbo.

IMPORTANT: If you create your sync account on the iPhone, make sure your password is at least 7 characters!

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

I'm not sure if this is the case with Seesmic Desktop 0.3rc1 (currently testing), but I have noticed with previous versions that after some time of uptime, the app seems to hog the processors on my MacBook, to the point that I have to quit the program. This was previously preventing me using this program in preference to TweetDeck. Not that I'm technically minded, but would this have been a memory leak? Hopefully this has been addressed ...

Thanks for a great post!

Regards,
Andrew

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

I prefer DestroyTwitter over both of them.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

Would you like to make friends with people from other country or place?
Here's a community __ B l a c k W h i t e C o n n e c t--c om ___
Then you can get help and suggestions from all over the world.
While you may find your true love or friendship there.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

I believe you left another desktop that deserves at least an honorable mention. Have you checked out bDule by @Sobees? If I had to rank them in order of functionality it would look like this: 1) Seesmic, 2) bDule and 3) Tweetdeck. Unfortunately, bDule is only for PC, which is a shame. I believe all my Mac friends would really enjoy it. Although it doesn't have the ability to reply, dm, or RT from the search feature, the thing I like the most is the user interface the blends into my desktop. It doesn't look like a normal Win App. Ok, thats my $.02 (cents) worth.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

TweetDeck FTW!

Thanks for the great post Jen.

Re: TweetDeck Desktop vs Seesmic Desktop: REMATCH!

I think tweetdeck is too heavy on the system, and seesmic is still a bit buggy.. I came to know Twitter Destroyer and in spite of its name, I found it an awesome tool! But, in my opinion the most powerfull free tool/interface for twitter (and not only!!) is peoplebrowser.. check it out mates!
