Mashable - The Social Media Guide: TweetDeck Adds New Notification System and New Follower Column

  • Paul · 1 month ago
Been using this for about half hour and the ability to move the notification window is awesome. But it's still too big and makes no attempt to integrate (aesthetically) with Windows.

Also, where's the improvements in regards to the facebook integration, I want the status updates and the wall posts without that of the applications, especially quizzes like "what day of the week are you" and "just how many people will block this on facebook but be forced to read it via tweetdeck?"
  • lagspike · 1 month ago
yeah, some of those application notifications take up more than my screen's height (maybe because i use narrow columns so everything gets squeezed down)

"just how many people will block this on facebook but be forced to read it via tweetdeck?"

    lol...

Paul, I'm not sure what your experience was, but I could set the facebook friends' status update only by clicking the f(acebook) blue button on the top and choose the status update icon.
  • Paul · 1 month ago
I see where you're coming from. But ideally, what I'd like is, friends' status updates, wall posts, links, events, photos AND videos all in one feed. Without other applications in there.

Ah! I misunderstood what yuo had in mind. Yeah, I think that would be a nice thing.

Facebook apps are like soaps because there's no value but people are drawn to them! I will have to check out this latest release of TweetDeck when I return from the gym! Lately I have resisted using desktop clients in favour of using the iPhone apps! Quickly I launch for example Tweetie and post a message and continue with whatever I am doing!

That's great news. I'm a big Tweetdeck fan and am definitely looking forward to keyboard navigation.

Indeed. That's been my primary complaint about TweetDeck and Seesmic. Wonder what's taken so long. It's been especially annoying since even scrolling with the mouse wheel hasn't been reliable with either client. Keyboard shortcuts FTW.

How does hootsuite compare to tweetdeck? I first started out with hoot but with that many users using tweetdeck, i'm wondering what i'm missing out.
  • WendyMerritt · 1 month ago
Hootsuite and Tweetdeck are two different monsters. It depends on what you are doing as to which will better suit your needs. I, personally, use both. Hootsuite has many more features that are geared to commercial needs rather than personal, IMO. Why not use both and see which one is best for you?

    Blessings,

TweetDeck is cool.. But DestroyTwitter is better. But I'll try this new version.

Great new features. Only thing missing now is scheduling tweets.

I like the new notifications, but I don't see the new followers column..is there something you have to change in the settings to get it to work?
  • Mitcha · 1 month ago
still sticking with Seesmic. Tweetdeck only offers 3 services of image upload.
Dont like Twitpic, Moby is far away better..

Love desktop TweetDeck and will download this version. Especially liked previous release's addition of automatic URL shortening via bit.ly. Fave mobile Twitter client is now the Tweetie 2.0 app for iPhone. Used to use TweetDeck iPhone app for mobile tweets but Tweetie 2.0 is a complete re-write of the 1.0 (and I was willing to pay for the 2.0 app).

Sticking with Seesmic since I've been asking Tweetdeck to implement this for over a year and kept being told "two weeks". Well, it's over 52 weeks and Seesmic is better IMO.

Glad to hear. Love to see TweetDeck go lighter on the resources...that was the main reason I started using HootSuite. - John Coonen http://cmsx.us

Just wondering, but does Mashdeck follow and incorporate Tweetdeck's improvements, and if so, at what rate? I mean, if Tweetdeck roles something out, how long until it's in Mashdeck?

    FOR DPH,
I want to talk so we can be a family again. I still love you and I know you love me. Lets be a family again. This whole thing is making me sick. I'll be in town next week, lets get together. please. I want to be together. lets start over. Lets forgive each other and move on. Lets cuddle as a family
