Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Tweetable Eats: What Street Vendors Can Teach Big Business About Twitter

Great article. I've found that local businesses seem to be able to leverage Twitter best due to it's immediacy. It's great to follow Dell and such, but I'm more likely to pick up a hot dog in my town than order a new computer on a whim.

Nice... Thanks especially for pointing me to local food truck tweets; though I must say that @rickshawtruck when in DUMBO needs to do more than just blast cute tweets to make its overpriced half-dozen dumplings worth it next to delivery from any decent nearby Chinese spots (with tip included).

If you had any true connection at all with San Francisco, you wouldn't call it San Fran. Might as well be scraping your fingernails on a chalkboard. Maybe later this year I'll visit New Yo.

When I lived in San Francisco, I called it SF. Then again, I'm from ChiTown! We have nicknames for everything as a term of endearment.

Darn it Ann, you just made me incredibly hungry, posting all these great Twitter ideas next to photos of greasy, but yummy looking street food. Guess I'd better run out and grab a bite to east - any street vendors in Park City, Ut on Twitter?!

This is great affirmation for us as we just met with a local business here in Jacksonville Beach, Florida this afternoon for lunch. We discussed how they can leverage the power of Twitter to get people to their restaurant. We showed them our tool at http://twittermass.com and taught them how they can use our local feature to get the attention of people in our surrounding area. Once they do that they join in the local conversation via Twitter and encourage people to try their great food by dishing out Twitter exclusive coupons. The results have been phenomenal for this restaurant. We gave them free access to our product for 30 days. We're going to meet back up with them for a video interview to see how effective their marketing campaign has been.

If you're a small business and need help marketing your business locally. Direct message or @ reply me and I'll do my best to help you out.

The trucks' use of Twitter has been great for New Yorkers. Many New Yorkers have an allegiance to their favorite trucks but they are always on the move. I'm not necessarily sure how this translates for the big businesses but it has been great for the trucks.

I love this post! People tend to look toward the big companies to set the examples on how to market. The street vendors are definitely providing good food for thought. (So sorry for the obvious pun, I couldn't resist.)

Twitter is like a breath of fresh air on the Social Media scene. I have been on it for just a few weeks now and I have met several interesting people. It is a platform to network with people you would like to meet in real life.

This is what twitter is good for when done right. Nice Post Ann. I love it!! Many companies with no strategy should think twice about Twitter before jumping though. It takes strategy and time.

Great posting. I love what these guys are doing. Who would have thought years ago that they would be using Social Media this way. Keeping their customers informed by Twitter is great. Thanks for the great information that I can use in my business.

As a Minnesota native we have an unfortunate lack of street food (except for the farmers market on Nicollet in Minneapolis every Thursday) Harsh winters plus a rocket fast skyway system woud leave a poor japadog vendor SOL. Could you imagine tweeting "Just posted up outside Target HQ on Nicollet and 10th-come outside...WE DARE YOU!"

Thanks for this article. I love hearing proof of Twitter's efficacy for the average joe hotdog eater, job seeker, social butterfly, resident weirdo or whoever!
