Mashable - The Social Media Guide: TWEET IDEAS: 13 Things to Do on Twitter Besides Tweet

  • Martin · 3 months ago
Share files, music, videos and images, are all possible from one application, that of course is not included in this list > favit.com, do you do any research or just recycle articles :)

Great, more ways to be distracted by my twitter!! :)
  • jyothiprakash · 3 months ago
    Useful list. Love your posts!
A couple of things that I found useful - Twitition (twitter petitions) and Twibbon (ribbon overlay to your twitter avatar) - basically, both means of showing your support for a cause.

Twitter is not just for Tweeting! There is so much you can do on this site. I found the business card exchange and the flickr app drawing my attention- what great ideas!
  • Johnny · 2 months ago
Have you tried the card idea yet? If so do you like it?

I have just started in getting my twitter account. It is nice to know that there are lots of interesting features here. I can be known by my friends even without asking them to read or view my blogs.

Awesome post! I have been using twitter on and off for about a year now and I had no idea that there were so many cool third party apps. I will definitely be using the Twitter Business Card App.
  • Dadon212 · 3 months ago
All of these ideas sound really good but for those who only have a couple of seconds to update their twitter account before having to get back to work. What is there for us I mean twitter is one of the best websites and a great source for information. But when I'm not updating my twitter account or reading some of the things that people are saying. I'm hard at work or just sleeping, but don't get me wrong the ideas sound good like I said. Its just who has the time on some days.

The Twitter app you feature which tweets for healthcare reform is merely a tweet for health insurance reform! NOT healthcare reform! If you give a damn about providing universal healthcare, then you need to tweet about a single-payer health care bill and NOT a bill that supports more privatized health insurance. Why not post about a Twitter app that promotes SINGLE PAYER??

I'd love to use FleckLite, but don't really like Twittering from my Twitter homepage. I use Hootsuite so I can send Tweets later, find Tweets I want to share on a different account and manage my local clients accounts at the same time. I'd love to go back and find the links - that's an awesome help, but I don't want to give up the other functions.

I am an almost 34 yr old mother and wife. I have been married for little over a year, my daughter is almost 9 and I am desperately trying to find a way to make extra money. All ideas are welcome. I cannot get a second job. Even if there were jobs to be had I don't have the time to commit to another job. My husband is handicap now for the last three years and I need to be home to care for him. So the internet is where I go, hoping beyond hope that somehow somewhere I will find something that I can do on the side for an hour or two a day that will make me an extra 2-3 hundred dollars a month. No I am not looking to get rich quick. I don't even want to be rich. I just want to be able to live and be mostly comfortable. You know, buy my kid clothes and shoes when she needs them. Buy myself and my husband things when we need them, not have to save all summer long just to be able to get my girl the things she needs for the school year. This sucks! Where is the American dream? Sucked up by all those that don't care about this country! thats where. I will not stop. I will find a way. I will not be sucked in by scams and fly by night get rich quick schemes. I will find a way. If there is any good American out there that has any good leads to an internet income without big investments would you please let me know??!?!?!?!?!

Poor woman in need of resources. If you can help I will pray for you and bless your name to our Lord. Please help if you can if not where can I post a blog? A full one so that I can lend my plant knowledge to others? maijune31@yahoo.com

    Hi,
I really understand your situation, I am there myself only I'm the one that's disabled and my husband is my sole carer. Like you I'm not looking for a fortune but enough to get the little things that would make life easier for us. Like a mobility van that I can ride into instead of my husband having to first help me into the car, then take the scooter apart and lift it into the back of the vehicle. So believe me when I say I totally understand where you're coming from. Also please believe me when I say I'm not trying to sell you something but I was getting to the stage where I was feeling pretty low and a bit useless, always feeling like I'm a burden of everyone - my husband of course if wonderful and goes to great lengths to assure me that I'm not a burden but sadly that doesn't always help. I wanted to do something for myself that would perhaps alsomake it a little easier for him. I decided to go into Network Marketing, anythng was worth a try. I actually started almost two months ago. The first month I made the whopping sum of $11.61 hardly enough to give me the things I wanted but still it was enough encouragement to make me go on. In the month of August I increased that to $152.20
    - still along way from whre I want to be but enough to encourage me to continue. However the other side of the coin is that altogether I have spent $69.99 so definitely not a great profit margin but still better than I imagined I could do and I think that until I begin making more money that will be the last of my investment. But I guess we all have to start somewhere. Like I said I'm not trying to sell you anythng or get you sign up to my website, that will be your decision but if you're interested in knowing how I stated (mostly for free) and after the 10th. of September I will know if I made more progress this month. Anyway contact me if I can be of help.
Whatever you decide, I wish you every success.

I have a ministry in Colo. I am trying to develop an online fundraising concept to help build a youth ranch. I need people to send out e-mails and do social networking. I am able to pay a percentage of any fundraising you can do online. We are a non-profit faith based charity serving children and families. If you want more information, contact me, Jerry Joe. Any other people interested in a part time networking job, all ages, all individauls, all faiths and any donations welcome. Any finances raised and donated to UPHM will recieve a 25% to 30% percent income off the top of the donations you help generate, plus you can create your on downline of ministry partners to raise income for yourself, church or charity. No start up cost, its very simple, you just need a computer and the motivation to make as many contacts as possible. May God bless and protect you as you.

There's still a lot to learn it seems it's a lot more interesting than i thought!

I tried to set up the business cards for twitter, a great idea right? I'm not so sure when I made mine the link to my company website was misspelled. I tried it 5 times and double and triple checked to make sure it wasn't user error. This COMMON misspelling was still there. To all be careful, check to make sure the info is correct as it didn't work for me.

Hey Barb - Very nice series of recommendation. I think that the power of Twitter is largely untapped by the masses and I know there is so much more I can be doing with this resource. You have offered a few nuggets that have inspired a thought or two. Thank you as always for you ideas and perspective.

Let's see if I can put one or two if them to good use and further build my brand, reach, and serve a broader audience in the process.

    Thank you!

I dont care about the race or sex of our president, but I'm tired of hearing the Obama is the first African American President. He is bi-rascial. Anyone that cannot admit their heritage must be ashamed of it. Why is he ashamed of his heritage? I am proud of my heritage and it doesn't matter what it is.

"A Short Walk to the Beginning of the Rest of My Life"
    "A Disabled Firefighters Memoir"

Mark A. Servatius Fire Chief/Building Official (Ret.)

    About the Author
Mark Servatius is a 20-year veteran firefighter. In July of 1992, two-weeks after his 40th birthday, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He remained working, as a Fire Chief/Building Official, confined to a wheelchair, until his disability retirement from the Oregon fire service on April 1, 1997.

Multiple sclerosis has rendered him completely paralyzed below the waist and left upper-torso. With use of only his right arm and hand, he has spent 5-years typing his memoir, using his right middle finger, one keystroke at a time!
    About the Book
Mark takes you on a journey, highlighting his childhood, growing up on a farm in rural Idaho. He continues his journey, highlighting his 20-year fire service career, and the trials and tribulations he encountered along the way.

Mark's story will bring a tear to your eye and a chuckle to your side, with his brand of humor. Throughout the chapters, the reader will find inspiration and entertainment, with a little wisdom sprinkled in, with Mark's "Life's lessons".

It was a beautiful morning in mid-July of 1992. At the time, I had a private office on the first floor of city hall. A bank of windows faced the street where I always parked my fire chief staff car. I had just finished wrapping-up a meeting with the on-duty fire captain and I was anxious to tackle my routinely hectic schedule. I reached for my brief case that I needed to take with me for an important scheduled meeting away from city hall, but I did not have the strength to grasp the handle to pick it up.
Suddenly, I was overcome with flu type symptoms. In an instant, I became weak and nauseas. Within seconds, I was lightheaded; the slightest movement of my head to the right or the left caused me to have the worst case of verdigo than I had ever experienced.
It literally took close to 20-minutes to shuffle my feet the 25-feet to reach my car. By the time I made the 10-minute drive to my residence, my symptoms had worsened drastically. I was sweating profusely; my suit’s jacket was saturated with perspiration.
At the same time, I had developed a terrible sinus headache; you know the type that feels as if someone is using two 12 lb. bowling balls to relentlessly pound away directly behind your eye sockets!
Fortunately, as always I had backed my chief’s car into my driveway in the event of having to respond to an emergency. I turned the cars motor off and just sat their motionless, in an attempt to regain my composer.
After a few moments, I opened the car door and started to exit the vehicle, but when I stepped out and began to stand erect, I collapsed facedown onto the concrete surface.
After lying there, for what seemed like hours, I got on my hands and knees and crawled the additional 25-feet to my front doorstep. I fumbled through my front pant’s pockets to retrieve my key ring. I struggled to pull myself high enough to reach the door handle. I unlocked the door, entered the dwelling’s front entry hall closing the door behind me.
I continued my arduous crawl to my master bedroom. I pulled myself onto the bed and called my wife at her workplace. Exhausted, I collapsed; my body sprawled upon the bed, awaiting my wife’s arrival home.
