A couple of things that I found useful - Twitition (twitter petitions) and Twibbon (ribbon overlay to your twitter avatar) - basically, both means of showing your support for a cause.

This is my first time using Twitter and I don't know what to do
Poor woman in need of resources. If you can help I will pray for you and bless your name to our Lord. Please help if you can if not where can I post a blog? A full one so that I can lend my plant knowledge to others? maijune31@yahoo.com
I really understand your situation, I am there myself only I'm the one that's disabled and my husband is my sole carer. Like you I'm not looking for a fortune but enough to get the little things that would make life easier for us. Like a mobility van that I can ride into instead of my husband having to first help me into the car, then take the scooter apart and lift it into the back of the vehicle. So believe me when I say I totally understand where you're coming from. Also please believe me when I say I'm not trying to sell you something but I was getting to the stage where I was feeling pretty low and a bit useless, always feeling like I'm a burden of everyone - my husband of course if wonderful and goes to great lengths to assure me that I'm not a burden but sadly that doesn't always help. I wanted to do something for myself that would perhaps alsomake it a little easier for him. I decided to go into Network Marketing, anythng was worth a try. I actually started almost two months ago. The first month I made the whopping sum of $11.61 hardly enough to give me the things I wanted but still it was enough encouragement to make me go on. In the month of August I increased that to $152.20
- still along way from whre I want to be but enough to encourage me to continue. However the other side of the coin is that altogether I have spent $69.99 so definitely not a great profit margin but still better than I imagined I could do and I think that until I begin making more money that will be the last of my investment. But I guess we all have to start somewhere. Like I said I'm not trying to sell you anythng or get you sign up to my website, that will be your decision but if you're interested in knowing how I stated (mostly for free) and after the 10th. of September I will know if I made more progress this month. Anyway contact me if I can be of help.
Whatever you decide, I wish you every success.
Just a very quick comment if you just want a blog go to Blogger.com you can build yourself a blog in minutes and it's completely free then you can work out what you want to do from there.
Good luck
You might get some information how to make money from what they tell you.

The problems with Twitter API are solved.
Test it www.ctwittlike.net
Let's see if I can put one or two if them to good use and further build my brand, reach, and serve a broader audience in the process.
Thank you!

"A Disabled Firefighters Memoir"
Mark A. Servatius Fire Chief/Building Official (Ret.)
About the Author
Mark Servatius is a 20-year veteran firefighter. In July of 1992, two-weeks after his 40th birthday, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He remained working, as a Fire Chief/Building Official, confined to a wheelchair, until his disability retirement from the Oregon fire service on April 1, 1997.
Multiple sclerosis has rendered him completely paralyzed below the waist and left upper-torso. With use of only his right arm and hand, he has spent 5-years typing his memoir, using his right middle finger, one keystroke at a time!
About the Book
Mark takes you on a journey, highlighting his childhood, growing up on a farm in rural Idaho. He continues his journey, highlighting his 20-year fire service career, and the trials and tribulations he encountered along the way.
Mark's story will bring a tear to your eye and a chuckle to your side, with his brand of humor. Throughout the chapters, the reader will find inspiration and entertainment, with a little wisdom sprinkled in, with Mark's "Life's lessons".

It was a beautiful morning in mid-July of 1992. At the time, I had a private office on the first floor of city hall. A bank of windows faced the street where I always parked my fire chief staff car. I had just finished wrapping-up a meeting with the on-duty fire captain and I was anxious to tackle my routinely hectic schedule. I reached for my brief case that I needed to take with me for an important scheduled meeting away from city hall, but I did not have the strength to grasp the handle to pick it up.
Suddenly, I was overcome with flu type symptoms. In an instant, I became weak and nauseas. Within seconds, I was lightheaded; the slightest movement of my head to the right or the left caused me to have the worst case of verdigo than I had ever experienced.
It literally took close to 20-minutes to shuffle my feet the 25-feet to reach my car. By the time I made the 10-minute drive to my residence, my symptoms had worsened drastically. I was sweating profusely; my suit’s jacket was saturated with perspiration.
At the same time, I had developed a terrible sinus headache; you know the type that feels as if someone is using two 12 lb. bowling balls to relentlessly pound away directly behind your eye sockets!
Fortunately, as always I had backed my chief’s car into my driveway in the event of having to respond to an emergency. I turned the cars motor off and just sat their motionless, in an attempt to regain my composer.
After a few moments, I opened the car door and started to exit the vehicle, but when I stepped out and began to stand erect, I collapsed facedown onto the concrete surface.
After lying there, for what seemed like hours, I got on my hands and knees and crawled the additional 25-feet to my front doorstep. I fumbled through my front pant’s pockets to retrieve my key ring. I struggled to pull myself high enough to reach the door handle. I unlocked the door, entered the dwelling’s front entry hall closing the door behind me.
I continued my arduous crawl to my master bedroom. I pulled myself onto the bed and called my wife at her workplace. Exhausted, I collapsed; my body sprawled upon the bed, awaiting my wife’s arrival home.
