Maybe Google Earth should just block all IP's to the Middle East until everyone learns to play nice. Heck, may want to include North America in that blacklist to make sure no Al Queda cells can't access it. Also, if we can get Intel, Microsoft, Dell, etc. to make sure no PC's end up in the hands of terrorists, that would be even better.

    Wow.

These terrorist a-holes are killing innocent people using Google.

I'm not sure what to say or how google should respond, but that is just scary.

Where in the Guardian story does it say that missile attacks are increasing because of Google Earth, or even just increasing for whatever reason? I can't see it -- surely you're not engaging in tendentious blogging?

The price of improved, available technology is that bad people can access it too.

The Google Opinion is reporting that Google has offered to buy the Earth and take it private.

Maybe they should offer some sort of "opt-out" list similar to what they have for Phones and telemarketers.

Is the use of "Terrorists" in the header editorial commentary, or SEO sensationalism?

It is also safe to say that the mapping technology Israel uses to enforce its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory is significantly more detailed than Google Earth, and doesn't blur out their nuclear weapon depots in the Negev desert.

There are hundreds of resources that could be used for the same purpose in an average sized academic library.

Where are the calls for closing these libraries? Where's the outrage and the news stories?

Is it really editorializing to call al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades a terrorist group? The US, Canada, Japan, and EU have all labeled it as such since the group's inception. You don't have to agree with all of Israel's policies (certainly no government is immune from criticism) but let's call a spade a spade here - they target civilians.

Currently, Israel is one of the countries (on approximately 130) has to be covered by the update of Google Earth, but it would seem that he is that which was most affected. Indeed, the update of the files of the images satellite of Google Earth makes it possible to visualize key sites military of the Israeli army, which in fact of the easy potential targets for the terrorists.

Among the strongly significant and visible sites in detail, one can find the headquarters of the Ministry for Israeli Defense in Such Aviv, bases of Israel Air Force and very discussed nuclear engine in the town of Dimona... The other users also identified another site as being the headquarters of Mossad (Israeli secret service), whose site is secret.

how do you know that? can you prove any terrorist attack had been prepared using GE?
just another example of fear propaganda...

Satellite imagery is easily accessible when you can afford it - with or without Google Earth. This is like saying that video games or television are causing teenagers to kill.

Yeah, I sort of knew this was coming. Google maps seem to be getting more and more intrusive. The other day, I saw a relative of mine getting into her car via Google maps.

The satellite technology is really getting too detailed. I read about other countries also voicing their opinion about Google maps, saying they wanted Google to block certain sensitive locations, such as military bases. http://www.diigo.com/user/boots72

ok first off yall is stoopid terrist can also look to terget us so they should just cancel google earth period and thay also should tax imports

I figured this would happen sooner or later. It's only obvious. When you have a way to "see" what's going on in other places around the globe, it's pretty much common sense that you would invade someone's privacy eventually. I'm surprised it has taken this long for people to talk about it.

    And in other news:
Israel uses Google Earth to plan defense strategy (watches Google stock go up).
Seriously, you can just use a map and a compass. Jeez.
