I'd really like to know why they did away with the "reply to" button in the discussion forums.

It makes communication difficult at best. The worse thing is, if you are the creator of a thread, then you get every single notification. Yes, I realize I can turn off my notifications, however, I am an admin on a 1M+ group, so I need to know when some responses are happening.

Sadly, we have had many people leave our group and facebook altogether because of this huge inconvenience. Posting has become more of a hassle and facebook discussion forums are losing "user friendliness"

I have to agree that since FB is free, we only have a limited amount of control over it. What business model should be used if we were to pay for it, and how much should it cost?

I have played around with twitter and am not impressed and do not have the time in the day to explore other sites - after all we all have a life to lead. So I accept the adverts and the other bits of paid-for content on the basis that it is not cost me anything. Every time I use Google I get a shed-load of sponsored links and ads - facebook is no different.

How Facebook Chat could get any worse is beyond me,but it's managed it,for the last 3 evenings,it has been virtually useless.Chat history keeps disappearing,people you are trying to chat to,apparently going offline every few minutes and then the refusal to send messages occasionally.It's a complete waste of time and my friends and i have given up with it.

I have to concur with the comment about the Blackberry FaceBook application being useless. It only sucked up memory on my phone and wouldn't actually allow me to interact with anyone. I could see I had a new friend request, but not the accompanying message and I couldn't send messages. I finally took it off my phone and just do FaceBook the old fashioned way.

I also agree that FaceBook is free, so I'm willing to put up with some minor inconveniences. There are so many social tools to choose from, I try to utilize the combination that helps me stay the most connected.

About e-mail: Yes to drafts, especially since if you get distracted and add an 'x' and start clicking around, you may never get back to your message. I basically never add anything now to messages.

Worst new development: Red flag ad/spam in bottom menu Notifications. You can turn off an app's email Notifications, but you can't turn off most apps' bottom menu Notifications besides removing the app alltogether which I think I might start doing. Used to be those red flag Notifications were personal to you, e.g. "Friend A wrote on your wall." Now, it's "App Y had babies blah blah blah," and "App Z added a new game." Time to start removing apps left and right.

The only thing you give to Facebook is your time.

Why in the hell should Facebook give a crap about pleasing you. What do you give them? Do you buy the products that they advertise? Do you want to meet singles in the town in which you live?

No... You just want to write on walls, make plans in planners, give your buddies eggs and stickers and whatever other BS Facebook comes up with to pease you children.

But please, continue whining about how the site has just been totally ruined by the new layout and how you can't chat with the girl you met at the mall six weeks ago. Stalkers.

Good stuff. The badges don't redirect properly (at least mine don't). Got to mention how completely lame the Blackberry application is. It's almost useless.

This s a great post! I hope Facebook picks this up, I agree on all counts. The event forms is quite byzantine and it doesn't make sense the one cannot define multiple dates, particularly for performance events.

I'd also like to see them offer a built-in privacy/security analysis program for people. Some wizard interface that talks users through a series of questions about their privacy/security needs then configures their profile accordingly or reports back where they might be exposed.

Another thing about Facebook Events .. is that they only half work. For events where it's more than one day (like for a theatre show for example), you should be able to pick certain days, and have people reply what days they *might* or will come on. That would be useful.

Also, advertising for these long events seems to stop after the first day has gone past.

I am in danger of repeating everyone else's comments but:

1) Chat is a pain in the exterior. Why cannot it be integrated into MS Messenger?
2) e-mail - again it should be integrated as a website service. I get e-mailed status changes so why shouldn't I have a copy of the e-mail messages as well?
3) RSS - YES PLEASE
4) I think they were looking to buy out Twitter - although I am frightfully unimpressed by Twitter. A twitter-like feature could be of use, though, although statuses are a reasonable alternative.
5) A "feedback" application could be of use to gather all observations into one place.

In my normal cynical manner I don't expect any response to any of these comments; but one can always hope!

Facebook is such a major pain in the butt,that i'm seriously thinking of quitting it.The Chat feature is just pathetic,if i manage to chat to anyone for more than 30 minutes,without one of us apparently going offline,then a miracle has happened.Most of the apps don't work properly and it's just so slow some days as well.It's ready for a major overhaul and some of the applications being sorted out as well.

Facebook is getting wonderful feedback. So, I expect Mark Zuckerberg to give us a kick back on his R&D. I really can't beleive how much success they have had. The messaging setup and communication funnels are not the best.

Block/allow individual friends or groups of friends in chat. I'm not necessarily on a chatting basis with _all_ of my FB friends, and I often sign out just to stop being bothered. But I'd prefer to be available to my VIP list.

To be honest I don't use that much of the online site.. it's nice, but it's just gotten too big & it's feature overload.
I tend to use the iPhone app more as it's just a quick and simple way to get at what you want right away.
The device forces things to be easy to find & use.
The annoying thing about the iPhone app though is there's no event stuff in there, which is great when you're on the go and need to find out the address of an event.. especially seeing as there's no subscribed cals on iPhone, so your fbCals for events & bdays don't show up.
