I went to hulu, hit "view page source". It said:

    Made in India

So that explains most of the uhhhh, "problems" they're having.

Also, Mark, for the next hulu article could you do a step by step comparison of hulu and Torrentspy?

I really don't think they could have picked a better name than "hulu", because it sounds like "hooligan", and hooligans are totally sweet.

It also means something else See for yourself...

It's still in BETA! Can we calm down?

Beta is meant to be a testing/sampling mode. Since when do we expect beta to mean - invite only sampling?

Ever heard of cable? It's that little box on the TV that comes with the internet access.

I was blocked as well, and this is very unfortunate for consumers outside the USA. I do believe that in order to comply with licenses it's important for companies to do what they can to keep costs low. There are more restrictions with licenses being written into many developed sites like this now everyday.

I'm a American that lives overseas and enjoys online gaming and also great music and TV sites like hulu and Pandora. When this happens I can say it's quite devastating since I really don't have access to entertainment that others do. It's unfortunate you can't simply give them a ID or something to prove your American :)

I was able to get back on the site by using a American VPN service like http://www.strongvpn.com or http://www.vpnaccounts.com . With VPN services these blockages are bypassed thankfully. But it sucks I have to pay more to see these sites now.

Oh and make sure you get a VPN provider that does unlimited bandwidth, www.strongvpn.com does but you have to ask. You don't want to run up a huge bandwidth bill.

I find my VPN more and more useful for situations such as this.

Hulu can only be watched in the US or from a US IP address. Use Hotspot Shield, a free vpn program, that works on Macs and PCs to get around the restriction. Go here for more information: http://patricksoon.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-...
