Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/08/01/youtube-cyberbullying/

If it's not on YouTube, it'll be somewhere else. What would stop a bully from posting this video on his personal blog? Do they want to also shut down Blogger and Wordpress?

This is just a silly idea. PAT should start its own network promoting social media responsibility or a video campaign on YouTube, detailing how such videos can be so damaging.

Some of those videos can be really nasty and I definitely see how they can be damaging - see http://today-on-youtube.blogspot.com/2007/06/hi.... I definitely don't think they should shut down YouTube, but there should be some ground-rules. For example if a video is taken in a place where a person has a reasonable expectation of privacy, she should be able to request YouTube to remove the video. Does anybody know, if a teacher looses her job as a result of defamation through a YouTube video, can she sue for damages?

Haha, its Youtube's fault these things occur? They need to get off their asses and do something in the classroom where they have the power to discipline and resolve the issue firsthand.

Shut down YouTube! Great idea. Teachers are so smart, no wonder all's well in the world.

Maybe youtube would need to make special channels for education ;), i guess it would be very usefull.

PAT are idiots you can't just shut down websites because a minority of it's content contains bullying. Maybe PAT (like Andrew said) should promote the benefits of using social networkings. But they'll probably only be happy when they shut down the internet.

Oh well they won't get far.
