  • Marcel · 1 year ago
Why in the world would you give us 270 websites to look at ?

How in the world are we going to evaluate them all ?

How about give us a list of 5 or 10 at a time. :(
  • Nick Desbarats · 1 year ago
I think it's great that Mashable has put together such an exhaustive list, but Marcel does have a bit of a point in that it would take hours of research to choose even within a single category. To address the challenge of allowing readers to quickly decide which is the best project management, invoicing, etc. app for them, I'd invite any reader (or anyone at Mashable for that matter) who has a particular interest in any of these categories to create an interactive product recommender on MyChoiceBot.com to help readers decide which app is the best offering for them within a particular category, based on their own particular needs. The recommender can then be posted here as an interactive widget.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I work for ChoiceBot, the makers of MyChoiceBot.com, but I honestly think it would help readers weed through the incredibly complete lists of apps here.
  • shorespeak · 1 year ago
Perhaps he is kidding but just in case - IGNORE THE POST FROM MARCEL - what a tool. All the work involved in assembling these and he wants to bitch about too many...please.

Congrats and thanks for a great list - it's going to take me a while to scout these and I am glad I have them!
  • Conrado · 1 year ago
Look Ma! We are on Mashable!

    :-P

Seriously now, thanks Cameron for putting up this great resource.
  • Saxoji · 1 year ago
I think that the most important thing is productivity and compatibility with other suites.
From that point view, ThinkFree.com is the most useful in this hybrid web environment that support On-Line, Offline, mobile.
  • Candice · 1 year ago
Well done on an very useful and impressive list of business resources. When you find a favorite in a category you often don't realize how many alternatives there are for just about any business function. With such a choice available there is now a lot of work involved in wading through them all to find the one that will work for you!
  • Diditz.com · 1 year ago
Thanks for putting this all together...was searching for some of these tools last night..and today, here you come:)
  • Jim Whatley · 1 year ago

    Cameron,
Thanks for adding Wrike to your list. We did have some major improvements, like releasing task dependencies and adding wiki capabilities. Now Wrike is a full-fledged project management tool, that has some unique killer features, like email integration, flexible structures and interactive Gantt chart. Everybody is welcome to check them out.

  • Ray · 1 year ago
You guys rock. This is an excellent list of applications. Thank you for taking the time to put it together as its alot of work.
  • nick broom · 1 year ago
This is a fantastic list. Whilst I've heard of a smattering of these, others answer questions and requests that I've had recently. Now all i need to do is sit and evaluate them..

Here's a challenge - is there anyone out there running a business of reasonable structure (ie more than a couple of people), using online apps / tools only?

AND, an idea for a future blog post - what are the business models behind these? As I think that is the challenge going forward.

    Great post - thanks!
  • Jan · 1 year ago
Thanks for adding our Paymo time tracker to the list. Awesome collection of apps, gona try out a couple of them today :)
  • Jan · 1 year ago
Hi Cameron, thanks for mentioning SuperSaaS. We get so much feedback from people who used other online scheduling tools and wished they found us earlier, so this will help get the word out!

This is an excellent list of online business tools, having this many listed in one area goes to show the strength of this market. Organizations of all sizes can really manage their entire business using online or web based applications. For example, the mentioned Salesboom CRM could replace traditional on site software and could be integrated with some of the other useful online business tools listed on this page.

Thanks for talking about Planzone. Planzone proposes an easy-to-use set of tools: planning, to-do lists, documents, wiki. Besides this, the really good point I think is that it provides a project templates database: you can create a new project from an existing one, get benefits from templates published by other Planzone users, and contribution to enrich the database by publishing your own project templates.

Great Post Cameron. This must have taken a long time to compile. I didn't see DocLanding under the document and storage tools section. They are pretty new. They just launched at demofall08 a week or two ago. They have some really cool security and annotation tools. They are also HIPPA and financial standard compliant. Check them out for free at www.doclanding.com.

Those are very good tools, however, in many cases those platforms are used just to allow the team to review the same document together in real-time and "be on the same page".
The recently launched free site http://www.showdocument.com does exactly that, quickly show documents to friends and colleagues.
It allows co-browsing on any document, user uploads a document and invites friends to view it with him live
All the participants in the session see each others' drawing, highlights, etc.
