Iam new to this Google account. Lets say you have a web store the person pays through google. How then do you get the money out? There is no link to your checking right?

I tried Google Checkout myself and I was surprised that Google didn't come up with anything better than that!
This is like the most simplest Checkout function ever, with NO extra security. When creating an account with PayPal you have at least 2 steps to go through but here you do all at one page. That is very dangerous as in case this would be a "fake" site you would loose your data at one shot!
And because you have many Google services in your account, it can easiely happen, that one of the Google sites you go is a "fake" site, meaning you are 10 - 15 times more vulnerable than PayPal as there is just one www.paypal.com, that's it.
Google does not think of any security as in case my account got hijacked as I used a wrong Ad-Words account, the hacker can change the password and I don't even know about it as the password change might go to my GMail account which is included in the hijack.
Now the hacker can shop all he wants and I have a hard time telling Google that I am the owner of this account.
I think that will be very hard for Google as so far they never had that issue but now they are faced with a new animal!

I like the idea of Google checkout and Google Base but I was struck by how amateurish they looked. Too much white space. They need a slick new look on thier pages. Some color wouldnt hurt. They could afford the top ad agencies for thier pages. Ive never seen such a boring layout design. They need to make person to person payments a reality if they verify the sender. They can do this without the fraud of paypal if they just verify all senders and have a special procedure if someone wants something shipped to an address not on the card or account. The account holder could have an alternate address section to ship to thier mother or work address and they would be notified by email when an alternate shipping address was used. If the address was not on the accepted alternate address section, the order would not be processed. This would cut out tons of fraud on the internet.

If I'm reading this right, it's reliant on your search engine listings.

That has nothing to do with PayPal, they are a merchant type provider you add to your site to facilitate payments.

Google are just adding another option to their advertising.

Basically, when and 'if' you get your ads on Google on the front page, Google provide the selling tools

It's a good idea to enter this space w/out p2p payments - that should improve the debits to transactions ratio which will increase the margin of the program above that of paypal's even at the lower price point - once members have been "trained" to store a healthy balance in their ebay wallet, then turn on p2p.

Also, think about the real world and the % of your payments that are to b's vs. p's --> the p2p space is really a tiny niche - let paypal have that. This could be big.

Interesting -- Great for selling products -- but I think websites that offer services will make most use of this. Instead of going through the hassle of adding credit card processing you could infuse this into your site. Really useful for simple applications like website memberships.

I'm going to investigate the API for this ASAP -- a problem I remember with the Paypal API was that it was difficult to action off of purchases - if Google does it right it could be a must-have component.

I'm going to try to integrate this with some of my sites.
