splash screen plus MOTD? Oh yah, utterly useful...
Ta, although it's probably easier and more elegant to simply use iWeb and click together
your very own web application for the iPhone, the CEO also has a point: just too many lame
users out there who aren't even able to do that... so they'll probably make some nice bucks,
just like they did with their iFart crap ;-)
of my friends that I'd have to launch just to get a the
MOTD from the person?
The whole point of things like FriendFeed, Facebook, etc...
is that they can effectively aggregate this type of
information so that I don't have to have a manually keep
track of a bunch of different messages coming at me through
too many channels.
great to Create our
Very own Iphone
App.. Thanks for
sharing.
not get much
traction, but
corporate apps
could. I see a
market for companies
to offer news,
multimedia,
commentary,
networking, etc. in
a true branded
iPhone application
(and not just an app
wrapper for a
website). Consumer
products could
deliver weekly
coupons and feature
videos of how to use
their products. Fast
food chains could
include games based
on their characters,
location-based
services, or
nutrition info. Auto
makers could format
their websites to
deliver details
information on each
of their models,
connect you with a
sales rep, and -- if
you buy one -- start
tracking your
maintenance and
repairs. The list
goes on.
useless apps that people will not be bothered using it anymore. First it was iFart and now
this? Makes me wonder what rubbish they will be releasing next.
I think Joel's adsense earnings must be down if he has started getting this desperate. I just
hope unlike the iFart, no one falls for this trap and gives them money to create something
that is of no real use at all. Seriously, who is going to open an app to check what a person
or business is up to?? What rubbish - I guess the best we can all do is to not support people
like this by not buying their products.
This is a serious back step in technology. Why would one want 20 applications on their iphone to keep up to date with their friends, celebrities or the like? What a waste of time and a waste of money for any sucker who signs up. Seriously, if you are thinking about this then use twitter or something instead - much more effective.
Just heard an interview about this on http://www.mediabistro.com. Joel comes across as an arrogant 'know-it-all' who you would think invented the lightbulb. Just because he had one success with a stupid fart app he now thinks he is the king of the app store?
Well, reality hit recently and his sales have come down just as fast as they went up and he is no longer in the #1 position - it was only a matter of time before people realized how ridiculous this app is.
My advice to you Joel. Stop letting your head get so big. There are millions of other people out there who are a lot more successful than you and don't need to go screaming it from the rooftops.
