And that's the difference here: on PCs you can innocently.... well be doing NOTHING and your computer will become infected. I don't use my PC for anything it just sits there and it still gets infected.
Any suggestions for Stan?
:P
Anyway, this is not an OSX flaw. The system is doing its part stopping the software from installing itself and asking the user for the passord before doing anything.
Oh wait.
Windows is only as security lacking as the person using it. If you choose to use the bare minimum, IE7 and no protection (or actually rely on SP2 Security Center), thats your fault. The same letting a codec install itself on a Mac is the users fault, right? Apple users need to admit that the OS is NOT immune to everything. IF the market share starts shifting, hackers will start focusing on OSX more. Since its only at like 5%, most aren't going to waste their time.
Personally, if you don't use IE7, you close off like 90% of the way PCs get crap on them. The other 10% deal with email, and that is dependent upon the persons judgement using the computer to what emails they open. I use Firefox and Gmail and have absolutely 0 problems with my computer. Haven't had a crash or blue screen since WindowsME, in 2000.
Darn it.. I thought we were talking about condoms for a second there...

There's still no serious mac virus to date, just as the apple marketing states. user initiated trojan infections are an entirely different can of... well, you know.
Blueflame: What could possibly be a better use of my time than looking for porn? The doctor says it lets me get my aggressions out.
KIDDING.
But seriously, isn't that sentiment a little like blaming the rape victim for dressing like a slut?
I do think Kevin is right. Getting educated about how to protect your machine is as important as knowing what areas of town you shouldn't go into if you're new to an area. It's just common sense. Yes, the authorities should spend a bit more money on going after spammers and virus/trojan spreaders than they do file-sharers (damn housewives!), but it's not like we, as users, can't be a bit more careful about where we stick our digital peepers.
2. Trojans are not consider viruses (no self propogation).
3. You're an idiot.
"on PCs you can innocently.... well be doing NOTHING and your computer will become infected. I don't use my PC for anything it just sits there and it still gets infected."
That is the stupidest, most retarded thing I have ever seen.
If thats what you actually believe, then you shouldn't even be using computers.
"Hi. I'm a Mac and virtual STD's are the new fad."
