We set up Gmail video chat here (in U.S.) on our computers and it worked fine. But now that she is over there, it doesn't work. Can somebody help me?

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Tested video chat feature with two users on home network. The Skype video chat is way clearer and so is the audio. I love my gmail e-mail, Chrome Browser, but Skype does a much better job.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Does video chat work with Turkey & UK? I'd love to see Google allow us to record our chat sessions and store them within our user quota.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Skype still offers better quality. Especially when voiping with Europe. Plus you cant do this:
javascript:void(location='skype:-'+escape(document.selection?document.selection.createRange().text:(window.getSelection?window.getSelection():(document.getSelection?document.getSelection:''))).replace(/[^\d]+/g, ''))

To call a land line all I have to do is select the phone number and hit a bookmark with this URL. Works in Chrome have not tested in other browsers, but should work.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Hi!!! seems to be nice... but please do it for linux!!!

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Great! Ebay isn't doing much with Skype anyway. Google just needs people to use it. I would also bet there are about a billion people who have never heard of Skype but already have at least one Google account. Maybe there will be a "rising tide" effect on Skype.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

This is very excited tool for gmail users.Gmail users can discuss live via this video too. Thanks for googlers.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

The video quality is seamless! I am loving it! I just hope more people add it. Also, do you know of any IM gadget type of thing that will allow me to also use the video feature through my different IMs but compiles all lists into one. Like Adium or Digsby but also shows video? That would be amazing!

thanks for showing me this! xo

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Is this yet another "killer" of Google? From the gmail blog announcement:

"And in the spirit of open communications, we designed this feature using Internet standards such as XMPP, RTP, and H.264, which means that third-party applications and networks can choose to interoperate with Gmail voice and video chat."

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

Great stuff here, Gmail keeps getting better and better. What I would like to see is the ability to record a video and send it to somebody.. a video message kind of thing. At least with other gmail users, there is plenty of space for them to receive the video.

Re: Gmail Video Chat: The Anti-Skype Arrives

I was very exited to see this, but it turns out that yet again they are giving Linux users the cold shoulder.
