I just love Grooveshark! And also TinySong.com, a Grooveshark app.

I think that MySpaceMusic has also a easy way of creating playlists. Also Deezer, although I‘m not a huge fan of flash-based websites...

I will test all of these and maybe apply something for our music-streaming site eOk.ro

Blip.fm is excellent website for this matter. And it is kinda different than other mentioned above.
And Slacker is great for usual playlist makers.

Thanks for sharing his cool list!

My question is, do any of these work in Canada?

So far I know that neither Pandora or Slacker will work with a Canadian IP address. Are there any that do? I need to find new music for myself!

Jennifer, thanks so much for including us (Grooveshark) in your post. You absolutely nailed it--continuous streaming while you search for new songs to queue up, and having complete control of your playlists.

As a small bunch, it really means a lot to us--and even more that Florina and Michael are fans as well. You guys rock!

Let me know if there's ever anything I can do to help out! Hit me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/grooveshark), and we'll start a chat.

Definitely some cool sites here. I personally prefer using my own company's site FlyFi.com since its extremely easy to use and provides great recommendations from its engine. The rec's are different than say Last.fm or Imeem which tend to be repetitive. The fact FlyFi ties in free mp3 downloads with its streaming rec's is a great concept. Hope some of you check it out!!

    I looove Blip.FM!

And though it's been a long while since I've used Grooveshark, it certainly proved to offer a good user experience.

    You forgot Spotify.
  • chris · 10 months ago
just a heads up: on 8tracks you aren't *limited* to 8 tracks. you need to use *at least* 8 tracks.
  • Brenda Heisler · 10 months ago
I'm enjoying Blip. I'm registered at both Blip and Last.fm., but I always go back to Blip. It's just plain fun. A good way for me to end my day. I get a kick out of seeing my Twitter friends there.

    Where is spotify?
  • David Porter · 10 months ago
    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for coverage. Two quick clarifications: as Chris notes above, mixes can be longer than 8 tracks. Also, you *can* listen to your own mixes without any time restriction if you upload your own MP3s (which most tend to do). If you use the "Network" tracks others have uploaded, you'll hear 30-second clips for the those non-uploaded tracks during the first 24 hours (this is to comply with the requirements of the compulsory license). Your listeners always hear full-length tracks.

Chris, David, thanks for the heads up. I somehow misinterpreted the language on the site - my bad. We've updated the post to reflect that playlists must have (instead of being limited to) 8 tracks.
  • richard · 10 months ago
8 tracks may be the best here. File Factory is allowing something similar, but there is a sense of community at 8 tracks similar to muxtape that's fun. The others don't work for me. I've punched in a dozen artists I really enjoy, some older some newer and none show up. Seems that one must be fully mainstream to enjoy the self created "radio" - seems a bit redundant.
  • Adorian · 10 months ago
Spotify with its collaborate playlists is THE option for parties and personal use. If they implement a "Similar artist" feature like Last.fm - it will be a killer.
  • Alexander · 10 months ago
@Adorian: Spotify has "similar artists" on artist pages. If you click on the "Artist radio"-tab and it plays the actual artist and similar artists. See http://screencast.com/t/RBX3gNkwcTx
  • Adorian · 10 months ago
Alexander: but it doesn't play similar artists and genre indefinetely as Last.fm does. I want to enter an artist or a track and have the same sound played for the rest of the stream. Like Last.fm. Spotify's Artist Radio is extremely limited.
  • dde · 10 months ago
I recommend http://www.maestro.fm - you can access your entire music library via the internet and create unlimited playlists.
  • Andy · 10 months ago
I think there needs to be an honorable mention to the old Muxtape. Got damn I miss their old format.
  • numlok · 10 months ago
I humbly offer Lala (lala.com) as a worthy alternative.
Really... It's pretty friggen cool the way it works.

    yes....
  • dave · 9 months ago
Thats a remarkable comparison. I really like it. Its only a huge problem that slacker radio stations arent working in Poland:(
