You out-right said that there was no way You-Tube could be worth 1.5 billion, and you were right. Becuase Google bought it for let me see............1.65 billion. Isn't that an anomoly...I guess you were wrong all along. So how much is Myspace really worth? To my calculations in three years Myspace will be worth and estimated $ 38 billion or maybe even more. Why you say? Its attempts to launch in the U.K. and China will more than likely be very succesfull. I'm just waiting for when Myspace stocks go public, and i'll be rackeing in the money!

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

Well one thing is how much you and I think they are worth and another is what the buyers think. The price has gone up exponentially with the increased hype factor.

Myspace in the 500 millionthhh, Facebook in the 1 billionthhzzhh and then youtube at a staggering 1,6 billiontzhhhhhh.

I hope it continues and I will be one of those guys cashing in by the millions next year.

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

Rabbits are letting the the air of the web 2.0 bubble. http://www.rabbitbites.com/...

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

Myspace is really valuable to mainstream brand advertisers. Myspace is borderline worthless for all the niche ad buyers that pump billions in to Google.

Myspace is high risk because on the internet things happen fast. No one cares or visits the popular websites of 1999 (ok, may be Yahoo, eBay, and Amazon.) But Myspace is a trend. They got where they were by riding Friendster's wave and eclipsing it. Someone is going to ride Myspace's wave and eclipse it too. The question is not if but rather when.

As for using the valuation of a hot stock to price a company? Thats just silly.

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

So how did Rohan arrive at the figure? I think mtv even tried to do their own version of myspace but haven't heard much about it.. It's currently inundated with advertising that people can't stand, or don't pay any attention to. I'm 24, and have used MySpace for atleast 2 years, before any major deals or fortune 500 company ad banners. The messages people receive and the ways even the users have found to market themselves are overwhelmingly annoying, and I think it will eventually drive users to a new up-and-comer with less corporate penetration.

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

bubble bubble toil and trouble

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

it's dot-com deja vu. what's rohan trying to be, the next henry blodget? what he's doing is just guessing as opposed to doing research based on solid number-crunching. not good, although it does generate lots of publicity.

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

Pete, I'll get you twelvety if you'll take a post-dated check. ;)

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

May need a name change to get to twelvety such as Youmash or just Mash or maybe even diggmymash or to get even higher how about diggmymashbook!

Re: MySpace Worth $20 Billion?

David,

Good point.
