Anyone other then me think this was inspired by someone watching too much Izzard?
  • Sean P. Aune · 2 years ago
Nope... not just you, Lynn. That was about the first thing that went through my head when I saw it.
  • AlexMerced · 2 years ago
This is a clever use of Social Bookmarking, i approve

unlike my not so creative but still something I'm promoting attempt:

    http://www.zuki.us

it's worth visiting if only to see the kissing rabbits PSA on the front page

I'm not one for political correctness, but that name is atrocious. Really bad taste. I don't know if I'd be interested in this site in the first place, but the lack of tact in their branding has ensured I'm not even going to bother looking at the site.

This would make a killer facebook app. People could form their own hate groups and declare war on rival factions, and everything else they dislike. And it could be integrated into facebook gifts. Instead of giving away stupid smiley face junk to enemies, your facebook gifts could be mail bombs and letters filled with anthrax.

@ That Greg J. Smith Guy

How can you judge a site by the URL? Hey, some humour is not supposed to please everybody. It's called satire.
  • Adam Hirsch · 2 years ago
Completely agree with you on this. Even though Greg is right about the name, which is atrocious, the name is rather catchy and controversial which is has already been it's best marketing tool it seems. A Facebook app would spread like wildfire.

i think the name is just twisted..
  • Cameron Chapman · 2 years ago
But look at how much people are talking about it! Sometimes stirring controversy, whether right or wrong, can lead to a huge amount of free publicity. Do you think they'd be getting half the amount of coverage if their name was something more tame?

This is a great site, because the name is so random/offensive, that it will go viral in the blogosphere, bringing in tons of traffic. Kudos to the owner!

Hey Sean, maybe an actual link to the site within the article text? Would be great. You see, the internet's got this killer stuff called hypertext.

    A jihad on you.
  • Pete · 2 years ago
Heh, I will inform Sean of this hypertext of which you speak. ;)
  • Sean P. Aune · 2 years ago
... hippytext? Is this a special language for hippies? *scratches head* I have no clue of which you speak...
  • Zia · 2 years ago
    Greg

    I agree with you.
  • carl · 2 years ago
I think they mean to say Fatwah, not Jihad. But because the latter is better known they chose it.
  • Liron · 2 years ago
With all due respect for tact (and lack thereof), sometimes using such things in humoristic context helps us cope. I can't speak for the creators of the site, but for me personally, as an Israeli, I know that humor has been a big part of the way Israelis copy with terrorism on a daily basis.

I find "Jihad on you" funny and not tasteless at all.
  • Cameron Chapman · 2 years ago
I think that you're totally right on this. I have a feeling that a lot of the people who are offended, are so because they think they should be. I'm sure that the creators of this site are not aiming to offend anyone, but are hopefully trying to lighten things up and potentially open up a dialog.

    lol @Michael :)

    I agree with Greg

I am new to this site. I have an outlandish mother in law and would love to read what others have blogged about their in laws. How do I find these blogs? Personally, I don't see how any other in law could be worse, but i could be wrong!
