I think they are actually attempting to compete with Apple's offerings and Google Docs. This is a great step up for Adobe to show it still has a great competitive edge. I mean, what else is there that even compares to photoshop? This is going to be a huge success for Adobe.

Re: Adobe Launches Acrobat.com; Email Attachments Go On Death Watch

I think that's why the features of the web-based versions are somewhat limited (and free) for now. I assume in the long-run, they'll all roll out subscription packages that charge a monthly fee. Like Google Apps is doing (but they aren't replacing their own brand of desktop software).

Re: Adobe Launches Acrobat.com; Email Attachments Go On Death Watch

I just learnt that Adobe Acrobat reader 9 is announced along with Acrobat.com.
I visited Acrobat.com. Contains great features. But i got somewhat confused. But i got detailed information about it later here - Adobe introduces Acrobat 9 & Acrobat.com
It also contains detailed and fabulous review of Acrobat 9 and Acrobat.com which was a lot helpful.

Adobe Acrobat 9 - Preview
Acrobat.com (BETA)

Re: Adobe Launches Acrobat.com; Email Attachments Go On Death Watch

You know, sometimes I wonder if this move to internet computing is going to kill off these companies, much like what's happening to the traditional print media, as more and more news moves online. I mean, Windows is Microsoft's biggest cashcow. Adobe makes all its money by selling Photoshop. And once these things go online, they'll probably end up competing with other packages which offer the same - for free.

Re: Adobe Launches Acrobat.com; Email Attachments Go On Death Watch

I have never been a fan of flash based web apps but I have to say this is pretty awesome. The interface is slick without being superfluous. The control over documents is nice (the fonts alone are quite impressive). Plus we get page breaks in the initial release (I know that seems like a small thing but Google was killing me for a long time).
