Facebook is ridiculously overrated. I've disabled my account when they launched their weird new ad model. Look for the next wave in social networking.

Microsoft is making a big mistake of buying a small chunk of facebook at such ridiculous prices.....

Microsoft bought a front row seat in social network advertising and some street cred while it lasts. The investment prevents Facebook from selling to anyone else, because noone will buy at that valuation. Zuckerberg is Microsoft's bitch now.

Facebook has become really annoying with all the stupid little apps, and as for trying to set up a band page and submit music? Worse than stupid Myspace which is horrible.

In fairness - Probably one big reason for lack of musician usability is that neither one of these dopey sites was really ever intended to be a music site. However, the opportunities for increasing one's listenership and fan base exist on both, where on "real" music sites, getting people to listen or become fans is like pulling teeth.

So in this case, I guess we musicians are getting exactly what we "paid for" ;-)

It is a baffling strategy, if you can call it that. Methinks behind the scenes they are just a bit more disorganized and disheveled than their corporate veneer would lead us to believe.

whats strange , is ...what if you're artist name , was not your real name ? how the hell would a passport copy or an id copy prove that you're that artist ? i dont get it...

here's my current dilemma. fb requires you to verify. But how? Their FAQ clearly states they don't want to clearly tell you how to do this. The title is "how do i verify" but they only tell you that you need to verify. This is classic lacking FB help. Borderline ridiculous for a major corporation.

How do I verify my Page to use the Music Player?
In order to upload music to your Page, we need you to submit a valid form of identification that identifies you, the admin of the Page. By submitting a valid form of identification you are confirming that you either own the copyright to the content you will be uploading or that you are authorized by the copyright owner to upload that copyrighted content to your Page.

Please note that you can black out any sensitive information on your identification if you wish, other than your name and picture. We currently only accept photo passports, school IDs, and drivers licenses. If you do not wish to upload a form of identification, you will not be able to upload music.
