How can you guys so easily dismiss a $1 billion dollar offer? Facebook is continuing to grow, however, there will be a point when they peak. Not only that, but many people think that social networking is a fad and will go away once kids find something new to occupy their time online. At $100 million a year, facebook will have to sustain for 10 years to hit the billion dollar mark. I can guarentee that in 10 years something new will take their place (hell, look at where the internet was 10 years ago from today...).

Could you please say what source the $100 million in projected revenue came from? If not, how reliable is that #?

And last, is that solely from advertising revenue or another means?

You have made a mistake in your calculation. You were right to assume the lofty values based on EARNINGS. However, you placed the value of Facebook at 3-6 billion based on their projected 07 REVENUE claims not on their EARNINGS.

That ESC is heavily into SL is a given, but to what degree I'm uncertain. However, there are at least two other virtual world platforms in which they're working and they could easily be in more. I think the issue here isn't the world platform, it's interfacing it to the 2D web and the systems that are already available.

ESC is involved in more than Second Life, so an investment in ESC is not necessarily tied to that platform.
