It's a great thing . So where can I find those TV shows ?

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Since I posted my comment, CBS has put full episodes of The Amazing Race up. Also, I noticed complaints from users on CBS' site that the episodes expired too quickly and now you can watch every episode online. I have to say, it definitely looks like the networks are listening and I congratulate them on doing so. User feedback is crucial!

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Why doesn't CBS put full-length episodes on their website? Why is their site so much more difficult to navigate than NBCs or ABCs. I'm annoyed as well. I've all but given up on their Monday nite line-up as I've run out of recording space while recording the OTHER networks!

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Thats a great point. I never understood why people would go out of their way to download stuff of torrent sites that is readily available for free on other sites?

Steve
grindvision.com

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

I like the idea of being able to watch full length shows on you tube but the quality really needs improving especially when compared to sites such as hulu.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

hello every body

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

i am new here.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Mosh,

I really dont understand the purpose of youtube restricting some videos only to US . Can you explain the purpose of that? Is it due to content relationships?

cheers

Steve
grindvision.com

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

The problem with Internet TV adoption aside from the lack of and delay of content you can currently get on cable is the missing killer Internet to HDTV bridge. Everyone went out and bought HDTVs in the last 4 years. You have companies like ZeeVee making devices to try and make that happen, but no one seems to have cracked that market yet. Part of that too is the lack of awareness by the general population about full episodes on the Internet. All of the pieces are coming together. Slowly, but it's happening.

I watched Sunday Night Football online last week. Live. It was great!

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Sounds like an awesome idea but the hulu player is definently superior to youtube. Of course for the casual internet user this is great news and with the horrible economoy the cable companies like comcast and cablevision will be definently be feeling the squeeze shortly as the viewership becomes less and less over normal tv programming. Just my 2 cents

Steve

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Nobody says if it'll be restricted to US users like Hulu. What's the idea?

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Of course these will be viewable by US audiences only (and those who can navigate a proxy) - if not it would wreak havoc on those tv show purchasing deals they have with the various Tv stations across the planet.

But if Youtube and CBS does this --it would probably mark the end of TV and the rise of the net as tv alternate - along with the demise of cable and tv stations using purchased material. Maybe tv stations (local ones) will finally create compelling content and then put them on youtube for an international (ad supported) viewership.

Whatever happens, it would radically change the way Tv stations and film crews do business.

More marketing insights in my blog.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Agreed that is likely their strategy. But from a user perspective, I really don't care about the mega-corp battles. I want all professionally produced material in one location with which I can subscribe to programs. I would like MTV programs on Hulu too, but that's the same deal - MTV is owned by Viacom.
-
What's funny is you can look up, say, "Survivor" on Hulu and there's a page of Survivor content, all of which are links to CBS.com.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Hulu is News Corp - NBC's site though ... The Hulu video player is far superior to YouTube's.

CBS annoys me that they aren't distributing their videos on Hulu. It also annoys me that CBS doesn't put full-length episodes for all of their shows online (I'm looking at you, Amazing Race!).

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

This is Google pulling out their first gun in lashing back at the speculators saying their market cap is overvaluated.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

I'm all for any tool that lets me watch TV on demand. haha.

Re: YouTube Begins Streaming Full-Length Shows from CBS

Now if only NBC would dump Hulu and do the same thing.

Any idea if these full length shows will only be viewable to U.S. viewers?
