Any idea if these full length shows will only be viewable to U.S. viewers?
CBS annoys me that they aren't distributing their videos on Hulu. It also annoys me that CBS doesn't put full-length episodes for all of their shows online (I'm looking at you, Amazing Race!).

What's funny is you can look up, say, "Survivor" on Hulu and there's a page of Survivor content, all of which are links to CBS.com.
But if Youtube and CBS does this --it would probably mark the end of TV and the rise of the net as tv alternate - along with the demise of cable and tv stations using purchased material. Maybe tv stations (local ones) will finally create compelling content and then put them on youtube for an international (ad supported) viewership.
Whatever happens, it would radically change the way Tv stations and film crews do business.
More marketing insights in my blog.

I watched Sunday Night Football online last week. Live. It was great!
Annoying, but not so bad ocnsidering that they've not really released anything worth watching yet. It's still irritating that this isn't made clear until you try to view it. Not even a "US Audiences only" bit of text. I got sick of Joost for the same reason - all the good content was US-only, as are all the videos on the CBS web site.
They're not alone, though. I travel a lot and generally can't watch stuff hosted on the UK networks' websites when I'm abroad despite being a British TV license payer. Or, for that matter, many of the streaming radio broadcasts from the BBC, particularly sports coverage. At least there are a gazillion US proxy servers - you try and find a working, reliable UK one.
I really dont understand the purpose of youtube restricting some videos only to US . Can you explain the purpose of that? Is it due to content relationships?
cheers

I'm not a YouTube or a marketing person so I can't answer that question fully. However, I believe the episodes they've released contain advertising and that will be targeted at the US. They'd need to get UK (or Croat, or Australian or...) sponsors before they released the videos into another territory, I guess. I can understand that's why CBS's broadcasts - for instance - are restricted to the US.
In the UK, we have a similar thing whereas ITV - again, for instance - have many of their classic programs available to stream on their website. The quality of download is even lower than that of general YouTube videos, and they again they restrict the access to UK only. As a result, people turn to torrents and illegally download them at a higher quality. Mind you, how you can "illegally" download something that's available for free elsewhere I don't know!
