I thought pages were fine the way they were. There was a reason for having profiles and having pages. Pages were more suitable for brands, profiles for people. The issue was in the friend cap and probably some other things they could have done better. Now it's going to be like myspace where brands and people both have "people profiles".
Dave
I think this is going to be huge for facebook and will really strengthen the brand.

overall good enhancements. love the filter function. but utility ultimately will be limited by how your network uses FB. right now if Live feed is any indication, all i get are updates of friending activity and tons of pictures. boring, i should change my friends
Lately, I'm finding that twitter is less about the conversation and more about tracking news and staying tuned in. Facebook on the other hand is all about the conversation.
This is definitely a big swipe at both Twitter and FriendFeed.
Facebook is dead. Facebook is like a VHS tape while Twitter is like a BlueRay Disc.
I do hope it'll be more Opera-friendly, though.
Facebook has basically just invalidated weeks of my valuable time. Thanks a bunch!
The least Facebook could do is provide an option for how organizations want their fan pages to render. Heck, at least sync the content between pages and profiles if you are going to make them look and act exactly alike. I still think this a bad, redundant idea, which will just negate the uniqueness of Fan Pages and turn off visitors. We only have a small window of opportunity to connect with prospective students, alumni, etc. And now you've made that window into a bunch of even smaller, separate windows (tabs). It really seems like Facebook is contiuously having trouble "leaving well-enough alone."
Careful, or else a Myspace demise awaits thee.
You are right......FB sucks .....i have also killed myself on FB, now i eat , drink and sleep with twitter. Lol
Fearless prediction: FB traffic, new sign ups, and time spent will be going down in the next few months because of the new homepage.
