Gosh, Mashable is behind. This is not news. There have been apps like iPhone video recorder and Showtime that have allowed jailbroken phones to capture very good quality video for months now. iPhone video recorder especially is as good as a phone company provided video recorder app and what's more can directly upload to Youtube from the iPhone too.
Its just that these small developers who produce real gems that are useful to the community for nearly free no not have the marketing savvy, budgets or PR depts to reach out to sites like yours. But as a website that covers this information you should be better informed and turn the spotlight on them to the benefit of your users.

Video capture refers not only to recording but to Flixwagon's ability to broadcast video to the Web. Yes, there have been several developments that employ the iPhone's camera to record video. But none that I am aware of allow the user to capture and broadcast that content in near-real-time to the Net for streaming or on-demand playback.

Paul, I take your point about broadcasting live which is certainly one step further than recording and uploading directly to Youtube from the iPhone which has been available for some time now with iPhone Video Recorder. I was not familiar with Flixwagon and presumed it was similar to Youtube. I stand corrected.

Lots of people are interested in streaming live video using the iPhone. I rigged up this add on that works pretty well. :-)
YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert it to various formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.
YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.
Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.
If the video on the computer screen is being streamed form the IPHONE then why does the supposed stream from the IPHONE show the guy holding the iphone? Shouldn't it only show the laptop which the IPHONE is streaming?
