Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/03/13/gamervision/

I have to say, I really don't like the design of this site. Especially the updates at the top.

I realise that a gaming social network is niche, and niche is good, but i'm not so certain this is going to work.

I think they don't get what's engage people on social networks. I'll send you one thing soon Pete ;)

But i want to say congratulation to those entrepreneurs, the first thing is to get the project live.

    The site is down :/

I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I find it aesthetically pleasing. I really like how you can not only post, but also neatly organize personal videos, images, and text.

Correct me if im wrong peter, but the gaming niche has still a lot of potential no? with the wow social network and the wii site, and some more. I wonder who will lead this field.

I agree with Rhett. I find the aesthetics of this site much easier to follow than the standard social network. Yeah it doesn't look or function like anything else, but I think thats the point. It doesn't want to be all things to all people. Its for gamers.

hmmmmmmmmm....it is a bit tricky to navigate but so are a lot of other sites when you first use them. My verdict is still out...this may turn out to be something kids.

    Is Sony behind this site?

This site looks interesting, but I think that http://thegreatgamesexperiment.com or http://recommendzit.com are more useful. I don't like the friend box, http://recommendzit.com does this much better (as a smaller box that is animated).

After deeper analysis, i don't think that gamervision is really a social networks. It's mainly a publication tool (not a social one) with friends listing. Is closer to digg or wikio than to myspace...
What do you think of it Pete?

They don't stop coming, haha. Btw, since early 2006 I've seen 10+ SNS-for-gamers sites launched and all of them have pretty much gone nowhere. It'll be interesting to see if something finally gets pulled off.

This site is okay, but still conventional and doesn't give gamers what they want ... which is games. Check out

I think its a better attempt at a social network for gamers

I think there is a distinction between video game social networks and social community / catalog sites. GamerVision looks to me more like a social community for video gamers and maybe a social hot spot where like minded people converge.

I think there is still yet to be a true social network for video gamers...I've come across some few sites that rank up the the qualities of a social network for the video game sector e.g. the likes of http://www.raptr.com or http://www.vigster.com and http://www.ugame.net.
