I appreciate I'm a little late to comment on this one but I've recently joined Kontain and was curious to read what mashable though of it.

My use of Kontain is mostly involving the photography element of the site and it seems to me many of the users have flocked to the site to showcase their best shots.

I think the real advantage in Kontain is that it combines elements from Flickr (easily viewable and easily shareable high quality photos), Wordpress (simple one click blogging) and youtube (video sharing) into one handy platform. Whilst it probably doesn't beat any of these services directly it does offer a very valid alternative by combining the three. It is still early days for me but so far I am very pleased.

sorry, but this site is all wrong - not something anybody over the age of 35-40 would use, far too complicated and visually busy for anybody who's not into the "latest and trendiest interface" design

the site is slow loading, overstuffed with queries, scripts and animations that serve no purpose other than to bombard home page users and is just too damned confusing.

for those people above 'shilling' for this site, seriously, ask yourself how this is even remotely 'decent' compared to the other nine million sites out there...it's just a busy template on top of some old crap.

you could build this site yourself with drupal in about 2 days and then hire a designer to doll it up the same way with better utility and performance...

I just tested this out and was very impressed by how easy it was to use and how fabulous it looked. I disagree with Adam, this could be big. When have you ever used a social app this easy and this nice looking, that is the killer feature. Looking at their new features link it's all there and more. Great find! - Michael

How are these guys different than what you can do with hwww.ning.com or www.tabup.com? In both these examples you have a large selection of tools to build a page and begin to blog. The audience can be anything that you want - family, friends or community, etc. on these sites. Kontain has nice colors, but I agree it needs more.
