In that case no one in Dubai should use this, not the case at all! Voice commands are really popular in English though rarely someone's mother tongue is English in here. What just caught my attention is that it's a Voice Search, that's neat, that'd work great while driving.

Having used voice search in the past on other phones I've owned, I find it a nice feature. I certainly did have times where it didn't work but probably at the same error rate as my dialing finger :)

And why would anyone else in your immediate vicinity want to hear your inane searches? This idea is as bad as Push-to-talk...

Anybody who's tried Microsoft's voice search on their WinMobile Live app shouldn't doubt how handy and accurate voice searching can be. I found it invaluable in the car for looking up directions.

The only places I can see it as useful is in the car or someplace where you're alone. I don't want to be around other people when I'm trying not to curse my phone for not understanding my accent. Great article.

Wow... nice work negatively reviewing a product that you've never even used. Great insight and value you're adding there blogger...

I have to agree - I like that you're sharing this information with us. But what's the point of telling us how well it works if you've never tried it?

This is very good for use in a car. Typing while driving isn't safe, but plenty of people do it; voice search is significantly better alternative.

Would you rather have someone speeding down the highway looking down at a screen typing, or would you rather have their eyes on the road while speaking?

I don't think this service will work fine in a near future. My phone does not recognize my voice commands even when they are previously recorded by me, so, how should this technology, recognize all kind of voices?

By the way Stan, I think you have a native language, not a native tongue ¿? This one is inside your mouth ;) I'm spanish, so I should be wrong with this.

I wonder if it uses the same tech thats in the GOOG-411 number.. because that voice recognition is pretty good.

Cool feature, but I think it would annoy the heck out of me!

People don’t do research on an iphone. They do it on their desktop or notebook or UMPC. I found some voice recognition software named Tazti speech recognition that actually is a free download and performs voice searches of Google, Yahoo, MSN, Wikipedia, Amazon, eBay and many other websites. It also lets me log into and navigate Facebook and Myspace by talking to my PC. It really works well.

Here’s their youtube demo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1tt_aeIAM8

tazti is a free download from http://www.tazti.com

    BTW: this is now live.

Go to the App Store, search for "Google" and reinstall the Google App (I had to uninstall first).
