Looks like Browster 2.0 is more a target marketing scheme than an updated version, to be honest. The preview tool is a good idea and helps one browse faster, but there are better tools out there. I personally prefer Cooliris, which has versions for Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

I don't think it's a good idea to build a tool around a site like MySpace when they're actively prohibiting these types of tools. MySpace won't like this because Browster is essentially eliminating clicks and ad impressions for MySpace. Instead of users clicking on friend lists or photos they'll be using this plugin which diverts MySpace's traffic.

If you're going to be building a tool around a site like MySpace you need to consider it from their point of view. Will this tool help MySpace's bottom line or will it hurt it? IMO this tool will hurt it.

Also, Browster is lacking Mac support.

You hit the salient point with "The company plans to make money by including a search box in the pop-up window." You didn't highlight it, and I can't figure that part out.

Last week, Google announced that it is paying Fox Interactive Media a minimum of $900 million in cash for exclusive web search rights on MySpace and other FIM properties. And, this week Browster announces how it is going to siphon off some of that search traffic for its own benefit.

Ideas?

You know what I've been waiting for? A sort of "browser in a browser" similar to Gollum - http://gollum.easycp.de/en/ - but for normal browsing. I would suspect that it would have cool features like the ability to store my bookmarks in a NORMAL manner so I can call them up no matter where I am...

I've messed around with Gollum for awhile now, I loaded it as an icon on my desktop, so when I open it up it looks just like a standard browser (obviously you need another "real" underlaying browser).

Sorry to go off on a twist... It's just that when I seen the name "Browster", that's the first thing that came to mind.

This is very interesting development.

I have just tried it in google and the icon popped up next the google adwords and has allowed me to view the site and use all the internal links. I did attempt the free download button for an application on the site but this did not work.

My question here is, have I bypassed googles adword campaign and the ad owner subsequently exempt from the applicable fees?
