Wow - I went - but, I wasn't that impressed. I've been going to these type of industry events for nearly 20 years and this one was clearly a version 1.0. Lots of folks standing around, but I am not sure what the goal was - nor what attendees were supposed to walk away with??? Interesting strategy to call it a conference when there wasn't much knowledge transfer going on, speakers, blogbaths, etc. I also don't think Seattle had it's finest or controversial start-up corp or bloggers present; I didn't see Rich Barton, James Sun or John Cook. So, in looking back, I probalby could have found a better way to spend my Saturday night featuring a 2 ferry rides, 4 gallons of gas, and 1000 calories in my McDonalds meal. Next time, do some user focus groups to plan your event!

@polysig I dunno-- maybe you should have had different expectations.
I was expecting a social/networking event with a DJ. I had a blast and had some great conversations!
I didn't ever hear it referred to as a "conference" -- if you did (of if you were expecting one), I can see how you might've been disappointed.

@polysig Sad to hear the Seattle SummerMash wasn't what you expected. But Tony's right, it was meant to be a networking event in a fun atmosphere. We realize that Seattle has events quite frequently where knowledge exchange/presentations are happening and we didn't want to duplicate that. I guess if you thought this event was a 'conference' that may have added to the confusion of it's purpose for networking.

For any of you who attended the Seattle Mash and did not get anything out of it, that is likely your own fault. When I attend a large gathering of like-minded people, I make it a point to meet interesting people and learn something new. If you just show up and expect someone to impress you, you will find life to be full of let downs.
I am really looking forward to Austin's SummerMash.

We didn't know what to expect but, we had both fun and made contacts with at least 1/2 dozen businesses that would be beneficial to our project. AND we met twice that number of people that will be great for our sanity during the same time!
besides it was fun to see pete and karen live like the rockstars they are.
