Google is playing this smart. Google could possibly, in the future, earn ad revenues from both YouTube and MySpace videos. MySpace is just blabbering empty threats. There was a heated protest, from MySpace members, against MySpace's decision the last time they banned YouTube. They won't make the same mistake twice, if they do (which I hope they do), they will cripple.

my solution: myspace tells google, "sure, we'll let myspace members link to youtube, but for every link, you have to pay us X cents. Call it a referral charge. If you want myspace traffic, you pay, if not, we'll pull the plug and nobody wins."

MySpace will quickly find out that what is important, if they want to keep their business intact, is what their CUSTOMERS want, not what their business development people want. Take YouTube away from MySpace users and you will have a revolt. Probably a quiet one -- the kind in which everyone simply migrates to another country. Or space, in this case. I mean, what are the switching costs really?
