    I've thought it all along, BillG leaving MS is a mistake, what he's doing with his money... well, that's great.

    And suggestions that he's after a Nobel Peace Prize, probably accurate...

    But him leaving MS, that's bad for all of us... love, or hate them, they are important, and with Bill G's passion for the industry no longer at the helm... that's sad.

    I'm not so certain that it's such a bad thing that Bill's gone. In a manner of speaking I think he's been gone for awhile and Ballmer's had more power for awhile than we might suspect. In addition, my impression is that Vista was Bill's baby...

    Maybe it's a chance for new blood to shake things up further.

    Despite what people may think of Bill Gates he is a hell of a lot better than Steve Ballmer. I would rather have Bill Gates any day.

    If the Justice Dept. would follow the law and break up Microsoft, maybe one of the resulting companies would have a competent CEO.

    He should have taken all that money and tried to invent something super serious technologically that changes the world as much as the Atom bomb or something. He better find the cure to cancer with his foundation is all I gotta say--or he didn't live up to his potential.

    I know Steve Ballmer makes a fool of himself sometimes, but people don't give him enough credit. The guy is very smart and focused. I think it's in good hands, it's not like Gates was arm wrestled into this anyway.

    And with the future being all internet and less software, I am pretty confident MS will re invent itself well.

    Good bye Gates, Good luck Steve!

    Microsoft = Apple
    Yahoo! = NeXT
    Steve Balmer = Gil Amelio
    Carol Bartz = Steve Jobs

    Let's get on with that Yahoo! acquisition shall we?
