Wow. just... wow. I felt it in Pleasanton, CA. I was too f-cking scared to move. Thanks, middle school Eathquake drills.

    Wow.

Strongest earthquake in my 10 years of living here.

"Twit first, take cover later" hahaha! That's exactly what I did too.

Right, I was like- I need to run out. Oh no, let me first go to Twitter to see what's going on... You guys are drinking cool aid.
Twitted is a tiny site with inflated Alexa rank...

I was on IM with a Californian at the time. I like the way he, and probably most people online, took the time to say "EARTHQUAKE, BYE" before ducking for cover. We need to make the names of our disasters much shorter, imho. ;)

Actually, just saw this on SignOnSanDiego:

The epicenter of the quake was in the foothills east of San Jose – not far from the home of San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed. Reed's home wasn't damaged – but he did alert staff members by text message only seconds after the rumblings began, said Reed's spokeswoman, Michelle McGurk.

    Heh.

Umm...I'm thinking maybe this one shouldn't be included in the Trolling contest? ;)

I was tracking "quake" and "earthquake" on Twitter and was able to capture a pretty complete transcript of the information flow:

Whilst Twitter posts covered the quake as it was happening, that's not particularly useful to anybody who isn't following somebody in the affected area. The keywords quake and earthquake would have received a sudden increase in usage, and perhaps Twitter should have a page showing this.

Are you sure it did start by someone on Twitter...
