Hey Sean - just wanted to say thanks so much for featuring the Album theme! It was fun for me to step outside by normal design element when this theme was created. I feel honored!

Thanks for posting! Definitely, the iQ2 theme is a great showcase for the
artist or photographer. Going to check that out as a resource.

What a fantastic Blog! Thank you for the information, & watch www.pimlico-flats.co.uk/blog whilst I try out your suggestions. I'm going to start with Blue Grace, though I'm hoping that a novice like me can change the colours to my website colour scheme.
  • Shevonne · 11 months ago
Nice themes, but I'll stick to the free ones I have.
  • 8chocolate · 11 months ago
I just launched a blog (http://www.8chocolate.com) on Wordpress and being a non techie I found WP to be really easy to use. I almost went with the Blue Grace design however it didn't seem easy to change the random photos in the header. The ones it comes with didn't go with my chocolate content. I ended up using www.diythemes.com/thesis. It's a great design, 3-column like Blue Grace and the thesis community is great when you get stuck. Great list of top designs you included here.

    Nice.

I have to add that the open-source WP-iStalker theme (http://code.google.com/p/wp-istalker/) is one of the most wicked themes I've ever came across.

Fully compatible with Wordpress 2.7 too!
  • RG · 11 months ago
Chrome and Remix look very nice, thank you
  • The Harriman Team · 11 months ago
I would also have to include Thesis on this list as well. Powerful, flexible
    and SEO-optimized, it's a great out-of-the-box theme.
  • Mike · 11 months ago
Sean, great article. I had to settle on a new them about a week ago and would have like this info then. We settled on the Structure theme http://themehybrid.com/themes/structure which would be a great add to your list. It is a free style magazine theme and is compatible with WP 2.7.
  • Justin · 11 months ago
Great list of themes! Thanks so much for sharing
  • whoismanu · 11 months ago

  • Susan · 11 months ago
OverEasy looks pretty nice of a theme. It stood out of the list posted.
  • Chris · 11 months ago
I'm 99% with Shevonne on this one. Some nice theme above but the bulk of them are seriously expensive when you consider you're using them on a 100% free blogging engine. In saying that though I admit I paid for the theme on my blog - technoholic from ericulous (http://ericulous.com/) ... cheap though, less than $20.
  • Brandon · 11 months ago
If you're looking for a WordPress 2.7 Compatible Minimalist theme ... I've created one here: http://creativespurt.com/themes/simplicity-grid
  • Vygantas · 11 months ago
Wow, judging on how those themes suc*k, I am not sure what others look like
  • eeallo · 11 months ago
Nice list! Over Easy is my personal favourite. It's a bit pricey, though. So don't miss these free ones by Modula.

Overeasy is so cool, bought it last year with a 4 in 1 package and i'm working on it to make it my portfolio. It has some cool options when you want to use it as a portfolio or cms.

Great Wordpress theme, and with no doubt 2.7 compatible.
  • Keith · 11 months ago
Good list, but most of them are paid versions. Perhaps, you can come up with a listlof free WP themes.
  • Tom · 11 months ago
Interesting you didn't mention Thesis. It's fully 2.7-compatible and has some of the cleanest visual design and CSS code I've ever seen. WP Remix, OTOH, I can't recommend at all. It looks great at first sight. But the CSS is awful and customization is laborious.
  • redstars · 11 months ago
Thanks Sean for the list. I used blue grace for one of my blog, love it.
  • Joanna · 11 months ago
Thank you to 8 chocolate and the Harriman team, Thesis is just what I need for my blog :)
  • ginny · 11 months ago
Thanks for the suggestion, it was time for a change on my blog as I never did get Cutline customized to my complete satisfaction. I went with Amazing Grace, and it looks good out of the box. I'll soon be adding a bit of customization (rotating my own photos) but not that much. Thanks for the kick in the keister to start the new year right!
  • wombat · 11 months ago
Times Cafe News stands out for me ... as the one that shouldnt be there ... from a desingers point of view it just doesnt cut it for me, its a personal opinion though, and some of them are amongst the best. Stumbled :)

I’ve got a quick question for you. I’ve never used Thesis. I’m using two Woo Themes right now for two blogs. I’m evaluating premium themes for a website that we’re building. It’s not going to be a blog. Instead it will be a full-functioning site with a blog as one part of it.

At Woo Themes, the best choice for what I want is Vibrant CMS. Can you tell me how Thesis compares to Woo Themes (Vibrant CMS in particular?).

    Much appreciated,
    Craig

Hi Craig, I'm thrilled with Thesis theme especially because of the HUGE community forum for support. I don't have the experience to compare the two themes but Thesis does have a user guide on their site that may help you determine its capabilities.

In case you haven't seen it

Great List - should do a top 100. Even when trying to narrow it down to 10 its difficult, but you have some good ones here, also should do a Free vs Paid. That would really tip the scales ...

I'm lovin' WordPress. We recommend it all of the time to our clients. I like the polished and clean look most themes offer small businesses and blogs. But most of all, I love that it's so user-friendly. Even my mom can use use it!

Thank you Sean for your work, very nice themes indeed. Unfortunately, I still has more to search...

This is a very good example, Wordpress is an excellent platform for blogs, with a lot of free themes and plugins and a powerful engine for the mechanical part of SEO. I has more blogs in different platforms and I know as well what I wroted here.
