Man, just viewing what is possible now and how 'it could be' used in the future
is really cool. I for one can't wait to see augmented reality devices become
    an everyday occurrence.

I think travel first, like the device you carry in the art gallery.
Then I think, what if your sunglasses could identify everyone.
What if they linked into their social medial profiles.
And then told you all about them.
    That would be too weird.

A great article! I knew about this Wikitude AR Travel Guide which maps directions and POI upon mobile camera views, but didn't know at all about the shown possibilities in games and animations. Bright future in this before us!

Yeah you guys are all right. The technology is incredibly fascinating, and the implications are scary as well as pretty darn impressive. We shall see...

    Great article Jennifer.

Google will probably be the single biggest repository of data that we will augment when we look through the lens of our phone cameras. Since there's already the drive for 'real' recognition (like apple's iPhoto and even video games on the Xbox and PS3, the chances to simply hold up a phone to what ever we see are very high.

So bassically they've all watched the anime Denno Coil?

This technology figured prominently in Michael Crichton's 1996 (almost 13 years ago!)novel Airframe, where technicians and mechanics used AR to assist in aviation repair. Not a great novel, but another fun example of science fiction acting as a harbinger of real technologies.

I liked the concept but won't it turns humans into automated and technical personalities?
