Dear facebook,

I have discovered several severe holes in the site that should have been caught by
Quality Assurance, but somehow have slipped through and remain on the site.
These are not security holes, but holes that are liable to
slowly erode the face of facebook and dissolve confidence in the product by
many members and most hurtful, non-members.

In the invite feature of fb, I accidentally accepted the fb
feature to invite every single person that I have every emailed, CCed, or BCed
in my entire life from Gmail. (hmm, a warning message would have been nice,
once clicked, surely I would not have wanted to do that.)
Once clicked, I immediately realized my mistake. After the initial
embarrassment of inviting my whole world, I got over it as "oh well, my
mistake."
However, no daily email spam is sent out to these contacts, harassing
that they join! Many unpleasant folks have contacted me and are very irritated
at me and fb!

I found a way in fb to remove all of these accidental
invites, but it conveniently doesn't seem to work correctly.
The following process/path I used and the error that I was
confronted with:
facebook > friends > invite friends > View all
invitations > Select: Not Yet Joined
:: Popup Delete Entries? "Are you sure you want to delete these 100
entries from your Invitation History?" Delete

Oops!
"Something went wrong. We're working on getting this
fixed as soon as we can. You may be able to try again." OK

Could somebody else or a team of people, try hard to
improve this site with very simple enhancements?

Update: fb requires you delete these invites one by one. Deleted.
However, here it is a week later and the weekly fb spam has been sent
out to all of the formerly invited contacts again!!! What a joke!
Horrible business practice!!

Yes, I got 4 invitations from the same person I've never heard of all posted at 1:52 a.m. this morning---when I clicked on "unsubscribe" I got a server 404 message and a yahoo directory.
Thanks for posting this---I suspected it was spam.

Slightly off topic but what I would like is a new feature in Facebook whereby if I get an invite from someone whom I can't quite place but who obviously knows me - we have lots of friends in common etc, I can ask one of those mutual friends in one click who this person is and where I might have met him/her. I find that I am having to this a lot more recently using FB messaging and I also occasionally get facebook mail from friends with the same problem.

So if anyone has the ear of someone in Facebook, please pass on this feature request. I don't see a form to suggest features on their website.

I got 6 invites to the same event yesterday. It's getting worse and worse.

This is the problem with bogus "friends" â€” there is a BIG difference between my real friends promoting their work to me, and a distant acquaintance promoting corporate crap.

This is why I still don't fully understand the global love of Facebook.

Ooops! I unfriended and eventually blocked an acquaintance that kept sending me invites to join his group. Now I feel kinda bad...

I have been seeing these repeat invites as well. I just thought it was a new technique people were using to get you to join their groups. A bug makes much more sense...

Yes, this has been going on for a week or two. I've been seeing notifications within Facebook reappearing too, so I've assumed it's a more general problem with their database.

I'm getting excessive invites from the same three groups and not sure why. I've been deleting them as quickly as they flood my inbox. However, I must say, it's much more than three to five invites per group and it's been going on for about a week. I guess Twitter isn't the only social network that is "stressed" from time to time!
