I think I agree with you â€“ it's at once an ingenious idea, at at another an idea that we've seen employed many times before. What makes it ingenius is probably the fact that it focuses around blogs â€“ and focuses around the social and community idea of the internet. This time, however, you can earn money from a social community (ie, a pyramid scheme but more like, as the above poster said, an MLM idea.) I would probably put it in the MLM bracket myself, and certainly not the pyramid scheme (which is not reasonable.) MLM is reasonable, and there's nothing wrong with it â€“ provided you're the right kind of person for it.

Mark - If you had followed the saga of BlogRush, you would have seen I was correct, but commenting on just the initial review from September, I doubt you did follow it. They raked a lot of people over the coals and never delivered on the promised traffic.

Heya Mark - you're really on a trolling spree tonight, aren't you?

As it turns out, if you did your homework and followed the story of BlogRush, that it was a pyramid scheme. Not all economies involve money - this is an economy of attention they're dealing with, and an economy that is doomed to bankruptcy. Almost no-one recieved what they were promised.

What they were promised was a rush of traffic to their blog. Even those at the top of the scheme only recieved a moderate flow - most recieved a trickle.

OK, this is not a scam, in the sense that no money trades hands. But it is misleading. The marketing videos on their site go on about exponential growth and unlimited potential, because so many blogs are born each day. Yes, well true. But only a tiny percentage of those blogs sign up for BlogRush, so the available inventory for impressions is very small. Yet the pyramid setup ensures that the "referrers" keep getting larger and larger slices of a very limited pie. This service will be good for a small number of people, and inconsequential for most.

I don't like them either they stopped my blog just because it didn't have enough posts.

Well its only recently that I started to build it up again. I am very disappointed in Blogrush a program I thought was going to be good.

But now looks to be just another internet scam.

This is why I am not pleased with BlogRush.
They cut 10,000 blogs and gave no reason.

Itâ€™s like wearing a patch on your shirt that says â€œblogrushâ€ and then one day, they come along and tear the patch off your shirt and say â€œYour shirt is not good enough to have this patch on it.â€

Who made them the judge and jury for what is a good blog and what is not-so-good.

I'm on the edge of rippin' the patch off myself!

BlogRush accepted a lot of members and got them to promote their service. And how did BlogRush repay them? They deactivated their blogs and removed them from the system.

They did this to over 10,000 people just this weekend.

I can see sites not accepting a submision. But don't accept someone's submission, get them to promote your site, and then turn around and screw them over.

The difference between a pyramid scheme and BlogRush is that pyramid schemes usually only benefit the people at the top. BlogRush delivers targeted traffic to visitors. "Targeted Traffic" can be compared to being like a vein of gold in a gold mine because it is so valuable that millions have paid for clicks to get it. BlogRush is offering targeted traffic for free!

I was just doing some looking today. I clicked on some of the links in my BlogRush widget and almost 90% of the blogs that were listed on my site DID NOT have the BlogRush widget installed on their sites, ANYWHERE. How can that be? I know - this is probably beating a dead horse to death.

I have a question, I signed up I delivered traffic, I earned 69 credits. Yet I've received nothing according to your traffic readout and dashboard. My stats list nothing coming back with a referrer of blogrush or any blog using blogrush.

If that's a 1:1 traffic exchange, how come my site's articles aren't being show to others - your own BlogRush dashboard panel - says "Credits Earned Today: 69" but gives no indication of how much traffic your sending me - which I presume to be nothing.

Calling it a pyramid scheme is reasonable. You don't have to pay money to be in this type of scheme, but the idea is the similar. Look at how the credits are generated and how the "downline"(referral) is structured. The "big guys" will get bigger by picking up low hanging fruit on smaller blogs. If the click-through rate is small (typical rates for ads) and the "little" guy only shows up once in a blue moon due to a lack of credits, well, you can do the math.

I have visited several blogs, clicked on the blog rush links, and the content on a significant number of sites has been less than compelling. For instance, one site was brand new and had one post telling you how to make money online. The method? Click on this link and be taken to one of the rotating "make money online" schemes from the bloggers script. Is that "relevant content?"

One question. Google is all about relevant content, and if this widget gets the reputation as being irrelevant or "spammy", could Google end up punishing your blog and page rank for carrying it?

Food for thought, standing by to see how it all works out.

BlogRush is definitely an interesting tool, however, it's also different from AutoRoll in the sense that it links to blog posts instead of the overall blogs.

It's pretty simple, or maybe I am.

Once it gets off the ground (we're only in the first few days don't forget) then we'll all be the judges of how effective it is or not - the stats don't lie!

If I become disenchanted I'll just remove it from my blogs - eerm so what's the problem? I don't remember paying this guy anything.

Sure I can see that if the widget sits on a few million blogs and each widget occasionally, or more than occasionally, has a 'Make Money Online' type link on it - which is how, as I understand it, Mr Reese is going to monetize this (and why not?) that's OK too.

If you don't like it don't use it. If uncertain then use it for a while and delete it if you get a bad vibe or just say what the heck and just use it anyway - who cares?

But for cripes sake don't make it out to be some MLM/pyramid marketing scam that is just plain oafish.

And, as a reply to this post's headline - BlogRush may be a pyramid scheme that generates traffic. What's wrong with that? It's perfectly legit in the legal sense and it's useful because of the (as mentioned by John Reese earlier) relevant and targeted readership generated.

BTW, thanks John for the email describing how the credit system works. I've added that to my post about BlogRush.

pyramid scheme? A pyramid scheme is when you pay money and get nothing in return. So I don't get it
there is no money exchanged. So how could it be a pyramid scheme. Some People call network marketing a pyramid scheme but then there mother buys avon and thats network marketing Just my 2 cents.

I have issues with this too. I signed up and had a huge number of red flags come up.

1.) Stats don't work. You want to me to refer people to you, but you can't tell me if my tracking link even works at all.

2.) Widget shows basically the same blogs over and over again.

3.) These blogs DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WIDGET ON THEM.
If no one puts the widget on their, then no one is
going to receive any traffic.

4.) Click throughs on this type thing are normally
few to none.

5.) If people do place the widget on the site, it
will probably be at the bottom of the bottom of
the blog where no one will see it.

6.) Why launch the product if the system is not
even ready. In my opinion very unprofessional
and certainly not something I would want to be
involved with.

Yes, I signed up just to be courious. Now I'm
just waiting to get spammed from my signup.

Certainly not new!!! or Revolutionary!
