On the upside, I can’t wait to read the Techcrunch review.

Well, that won't be very objective i think... :S

Are you being ironic when you say you can't wait for the Techcrunch review? To my mind, the credibility of Techcrunch has been damaged by their hype of Edgeio. How can they be expected to give a fair review of their own products, and fair reviews of competing products in the same space? And if you can't trust their views on this product, can you trust their reviews on other products?

There is also a chilling effect on criticism. Participators in any review site should be able to state their opinions on any product without fear that they are upsetting the owner's pet project.

BTW, I think Blogbuy is a far better name than "Edgeio", which is too geeky to gain mass usage.

I've always felt like techcrunch's reviews are spurred more by who you know rather then how good your product is.

But, at the same time techcrunch is not exactly going to influence too many end users. Someone ought to do a scorecard to see how where any of the glowingly reviewed sites have actually gone.

Thanks for the coverage. We're going to work on making the UI the easiest there is. Let me know if there is anything specific we can address.

i'm confused as to how i would list something in blogbuy? would i tag something listing as well? or for sale?
how do they not charge for handling the transaction? contextual ads? wtf? did they not read russel's article the other day? ;-)

so can someone build a generic aggregator now? i need to do a chop-shop job and build a niche one off of it.

can ning build these things? I think we need an ajax desktop social bookmarking edge aggregator! it will definitely need $20million in VC funding though.

Don't forget that "unslick" frequently wins out over "slick".

As long as the idea is good, it's definitely easy to build (or copy) a good aggregator. As least it's good to see "After months of hacking on code we’ve finally launched..." and know that BlogBuy didn't copy Edgeio overnight.

No doubt that "BlogBuy" is a better name than "Edgeio" - I keep mispelling the latter name. Then again, in 1999 all the branding experts and founders worried a lot about names and it didn't get them very far once the VC cash was blown.

    Mike,

Yes, it does seem that a few people are having trouble spelling the name - I frequently see it spelled "edgio". In fact, someone seems to have registered that domain and it ranks highly for the search term "edgeio". But I disagree that BlogBuy is a preferable name - it makes it sound like they will only aggregate blogs (Edgeio will go beyond this) and generally limits the expansion of the brand. Generic names are better in this respect - they don't limit what the brand can do.
