I don't like Orkut , you cant perform profile oriented search : age ,interests ,location etc. I think the Idea behind social networks is meeting new people and the current Orkut search doesn't help.

Atlast! The engineers @ Orkut have waken up!! I was expecting this change long time back and finally the show time starts.
@Lizi, there is indeed a feature as to what you are expecting but its ain't efficient enough. Many of the times, the indexing takes longer time!
When I saw the news in my RSS feed, I wasn't able to access the site for a long time and when I did, I just could the see background image and now I know why (Scheduled Downtime).

Perhaps the author of this article should take a closer look at SocialStream before they go waiting for it to crop up.
The *very first page* of the SocialStream website says, and this is a direct quote:
"Directed to help improve the online community orkut, the project's scope was not to simply redesign the interface"
In other words, if you want to get in on SocialStream early, perhaps you should be filling out your profile on Orkut.
Alright, I got the new interface activated in one my account (which I hardly use) but not on my primary account which I have been using for 3 years now.
Have taken 10 screen shots on each of the interfaces and you can judge the difference easily.
